Re: Sprint's 4G Xohm service to begin testing soon

I just checked on the coverage map and I am good to go in Charles Village as well as where I work in east Baltimore. I had contacted the person in charge of the test and she said that there were hundreds of applicants so they have to sort through everything. They will likely be notifying people by email early next week. I could theoretically push adoption of this in my place of employment which would lead to a huge contract so I was trying to get them to let me test just for that reason but unfortunately the market research company doing this test isn't involved with that sort of thing. I would drop my month-old Verizon DSL in a second if I could get this as well. Ideally I could do some kind of bundle with my Sprint wireless as well as Xohm.

Edit: I'm surprised to see how many PPC Geeks are also Baltimorons like me

Doesn't really matter yet... unless you live in Baltimore.

Welcome to Smalltimore, Hon.

I'm making it a point to wander over by DuClaw's during lunch the next couple of weeks. 2 Intel minivans with WiMax graphics, a Sprint minivan, and two of those tiny little Xohm carts were there. They thought ahead this time and brought a table so they wouldn't need to put all the laptops on the stone wall. They were just unloading stuff and I saw a hard case labeled "Xohm booth". I'm still bummed about the coverage vacuum in my neighborhood, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyways. Once they build out some more, I could see some good potential for our survey crews in the field for this.

Well, their reasoning behind the 5gb cap (which I still have yet to see enforced. I used my phone as my primary modem for a couple of months and easily did between 6 and 9 gb each) was that they wanted to keep the cellular network from overloading and to move power users toward the newer emerging tech of WiMax.
