CDMA Samsung OMNIA, maybe...
EDIT: (rewritten for clarity)
So I saw this: http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/08/29/fcc-fridays/ After some digging, I found that the Samsung SCH-i910 is the Cellular/CDMA PCS version of the Samsung OMNIA i900. The most concrete proof I can point to is that if you load the FCC Label Diagram for the i900 and the i910 into a PDF Editor (foxit editor for example) you can see the diagram without the "white" area covering the features. The i910 matches the i900 GSM OMNIA except there is no SIM card (of course). The diagram confirms that there is a microSD slot. The other related PDFs at the FCC filing confirm WLAN, Bluetooth, CDMA, and EvDO are all features. Maybe someone smarter than me can tell which carrier could handle this phone, because I can't see any indication of which CDMA provider might be picking this phone up...perhaps none at this point. Links: FCC: http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout =500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=620270&fcc_i d=%27A3LSCHI910%27 Other "News": http://www.cellphonesignal.com/samsu...-a-cdma-omnia/ (I don't know what their source is for their claims, but found it interesting!) EDIT: Here, have a look at the back diagram that went to the FCC: http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/4...diagramkz6.gif (It shows up in the PDF if you use a PDF Editor to get past the white boxes covering it.) So now we know the base model number: SCH-i910 and the FCC ID is: A3LSCHI910 plus we know a few of the basic features are confirmed. This is very neat. I hope some more detailed information becomes available soon! I really like the HTC Diamond and Touch Pro that are coming out, but the Omnia might make me reconsider. (The Omnia has a slightly larger screen than the Diamond and a lower resolution so it could be a little fuzzier, but the better camera that might be on the Omnia with the possible on-board 8gb or 16gb memory storage is enticing) Last edited by quarky42; 08-31-2008 at 12:41 AM. |

Note: I added a link to the original post to the i910 back diagram that was in the FCC document:
http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/4...diagramkz6.gif It's not earth-shattering... just interesting. |

Re: CDMA Samsung OMNIA, maybe...
Interesting theory. On this page when you select Samsung:
http://support.sprint.com/devices.ht...evPageIndex=10 There are 2 SCH phones, 9 SPH phones, and 2 SGH phones. At this point I don't see any rhym or reason to the "SCH", "SPH", and "SGH" symbols. Perhaps Verizon has more SCH phones than Sprint, but there may be a reason for that... so you could be right.... just wanted to point out that it could come to Sprint. Anyone else want to email jerry.adriano (AT) sprint.com and tim.kelly (AT) sprint.com and tell them that you would like to see Sprint come out with that phone? |

Re: CDMA Samsung OMNIA, maybe...
Definitely CDMA i910 for Verizon.
Company I work for is a verizon software vendor, been testing the application on it for few weeks now. Opera browser/google map/FM radio/Podcast/Rss reader are some of the application bundled in the current ROM. Don't know the release date but soon. |
