The LG Corona - LG's Smartphone.

Official Phone Statistics

Hey Guys,
I just had a LG rep in here spilling the beans on a new LG phone that is "rumored" to be for Sprint/Nextel. He is not positive that it will be, but Verizon already declined the phone for their lineup and Sprint is "interested in pursuing a larger smart phone phonebase."

The Phone, dubbed the "LG Corona" in the states has already been released for GSM (Vodaphone to my knowledge) under the name the LG KS20 which shows proof that American's need their names to be more simple then letters and numbers.

It has been 100% confirmed that there IS a CDMA version of this phone and we are just waiting to see which network picks it up. Fair chance, since my rep has told me Verizon said no that Sprint will take it up.

- Auto focus, Optical Zoom, Flash

- Pluggable 3rd party DRM and CODECs
• Downloadable free applications
- Game, utility, business applications
- Auctions eBay, MySpace and Google Map Service etc.
• Bluetooth v2.0

Nice to see new phones on the way, but it doesn't seem to offer much more than my touch does.

Re: The LG Corona - LG's Smartphone.

In my opinon and past experiance, I hate LG. Their phones always have let me down, they would stop working for no reason and the quality was subpar. I am sure this can be said about every company but in my experiance, Sanyo made some great phones.

Re: The LG Corona - LG's Smartphone.

No offense, but that doesn't sound like a smartphone. It sounds like a regular old phone with a touchscreen. Nowadays there are a ton of normal feature phones that will decode mp3s and include apps to check gmail and the like. The design looks kinda cool since I guess the all-screen candybar has become the form-du-jour thanks to Apple's offering. I just doubt it will be much more than the typical phone with a nicer screen.

edit: OK I clicked the link and saw that it is running Windows Mobile. I take it all back

YEP-a normal dumbphone with extra features, just like the INstinct. SHow me a mogul/touch killer and ill be convinced. These phones wont satisfy us, yes to the average person these phones rock, but they dont know what we can do with our devices here, like seriously, they have no clue. were NOT normal people here!

With the LG Voyager on the way & the Samsung Instinct on the way as well, why would we need another phone like this? it looks like it offers very little, but I'll have to read the specs on it.

Re: The LG Corona - LG's Smartphone.

This is basically a nicer looking Touch with crappier specs. No Micro SDHC since it says cards only up to 2 gb and 128mb of storage instead of 256. It runs WM but I freakin' love the rubberized coating on the Touch. It still looks brand spanking new after 5+ months.

*Edit* It does looks like it has a flash on the camera which I guess is a plus but the 800maH battery would only last me a 1/4 of the day.

I wouldn't expect Sprint to pick this up since I would think it would fight with the Mogul and Touch for sales space. Unless they put it at a lower price point to get more people into the WM phone realm.
