Copyright laws changed for Cellphone Software Locks
I read this on www.pdaphonehome.com ,
http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?s...33202&from=rss That law is great only for those who want to switch carriers. I have no desire to leave Sprint but I would love to get my hands on a HTC Universal. http://img.engadget.com/common/image...12725275655263 |
Who has the HTC Universal anyway... Is it even out yet?
Remember, regardless of "locks" you still can't use a GSM phone on a CDMA network, and vice versa. Unlocking GSM phones has been an option for a while (for hackers at least lol), this will be good for using Verizon phones on Sprints network, and the reverse. We'll see if the carrier lets you though
In order for this Idea to work the Phone carrier would have to be willing to activate another carriers phone and IMHO I find that to be highly unlikely, that wont happen any time soon. :dontknow:
Great news indeed. I also would love to get my hands on the exec. myself. ;) I think you can get it in the states just can't remember who through...its steap tho and I can't seem to find anyone reasonable.
