but I can take my cingular prepaid card and slide it in any gsm phone and it will work in a matter of mins, whereas its not so easy/short of a process for cdma phones.

I can see where your coming from. But a thief will use your phone regardless of if he can switch the phone out or not. What matters is how fast you call CS to suspend the line. Once that is done the SIM (GSM) or phone (CDMA) is instantly deactivating. :)

That is true. Tho in a lot of GSM's you can add a security code. This means that if another Sim is inserted it requires a seperate code to activate the phone. This is a 5 digit code and not the regular 4 digit pincode.
