I've spent a good bit of today playing with the (pinches nose) Java SDK they released.

I sure hope they release a native SDK for those of us with half a brain and the ability to write actual program code.

But yeah, for a JavaPhone, it's ok. At least the SDK (including emulator) runs on Linux. Seriously though, I look at this from a developer perspective and wonder, what's the fuss about? I can develop apps for Win Mobile, I can develop apps for Symbian, I can develop apps for PalmOS. I can do Java Midlets for 95% of the phones out there. So great, here's yet another Java API? Oooooh pinch me.

Like I said, waiting for the native API with baited breath....

This is a little off topic, and kind of old news, but somewhat related. Microsoft is offering a 180 tday rial for the CE 6.0 SDK. The reason why this is related is because the kernel source is open (though not free) and contains APIs for cellular communications.
