Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
The update for today is a good one I think anyways. I discovered a problem with the program I was using to flash the phones with. RSDLite. It wasnt working right, and I had 2 different devices get stuck in the bootloader and wouldnt flash or anything anymore. the flash would fail everytime at 95%,
to most this might be a bad thing, but it was a really good thing. because I was then able to figure out how i can use Motorola Software Update program to flash the file. So now there is no browsing for your file, all it is doing it plug phone into USB and load up program and press GO, and this is doing custom roms. So that is a good sign. I am still getting Stalled in bootloader when I do a custom, and I am still working on figuring out what I am missing or over writing. I saw someone post that I might be missing a line that tells it to read from Internal Storage. Does anyone know what this line will look like or anything it would be very helpful. but to recap, I am not able to use Motorola Software Update program to Flash the files, so that is a plus for the day. But I am still working on this, and oping to get it soon. It is something in the OS part that is not booting, beucase I can copy the XIP, ULDR and header, into that file right from a working build, and it will not get out of bootloader, so I am going through that with a fine tooth comb now trying to find something that looks out of place. |

Hey I just got done having the Flash problem with rsd-lite 4.5
i downgraded to 3.6 and it worked perfectly |
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
Just curious, is the chipset driver the same between these phones, (original Q and 9qc ect.) if they have different chipsets, would that not cause the same problem?
|
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
mega cool. I upgraded to a TP earlier this year after I bricked my Q....I still paid to have my Q unbricked (bootloader error and was unable with RSDlite or Moto upgrade to reflash) since I really wanted to have it as a backup....

Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
looking foward to this, the girl I work with has a q9c and I'd be a hero (if you know what I mean..hehe) if I could hook her phone up..lol Ive been looking all over for a custom rom for this unit but cant find anything. :(

Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
It feels like an eternity waiting for good news on this subject.
|
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
a suggestion... have you tried installing HardSPL? if I am reading things correctly that could very well be what is causing the problem.... shoot me a PM with a link and I will happily test it on my q

Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
the original q is a ARM processor

Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
Working on this and Tried to bypass security check in the XIP, and it failed that. so this is going to require a hardSPL, i am working with Cmonex right now, so we can get a hardspl working for this.
so its getting closer, taking time, but sooner or later we will get this. I have Windows 6.5 Smartphone Files. Microsoft or HTC has not annoucned 6.5 Standard at this time, but it is out there I have all of the files. all in english and all proper DPI, so once I can get this the Q, will also have 6.5 on there. I also have the latest 6.1 Smartphone files. It helps to have firneds that work for HTC that can get me files :D. so yeah, once we do get this the Q will be a world class device once again. |

Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
does anyone know how to update the bootloader version on the Q.
the files i am using i hav VZW latest rom for it, and it has the 3.10 bootloader. and when i update one device i have with a 3.05 bootloader. the bootloader never changes. so am i doing something wrong with trying to update the bootloader. or does anyone know? |

Are you flashing a bootloader file, or a rom with that bootloader? |

I have been trying a Monster file. and on the Monster file when it splits it up. CG33 is the bootloader file. so using that file it is the bootloader, but if there is a program to flash just a bootloader, that would be great, cause i will need that sometime along on this project. |

I"ve downloaded a couple monster files that were rar'ed and it included a .hs bootloader flex file. You can just flash them with RSDLite. I'll try and see if I could find one. |
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
I found a .sbf that was just a bootloader. and so i ran that and it downgraded my bootloader. i then try and add an officail bootloader to the file. 3.10, that is the latest version, i just downloaded over 40 Q flash files and compare each one.
so i had a officail 3.10 flash file that i flash to it. and when doing that. it flashed 100% but it then killed the device, and now it wont boot up or anything. so i guess the first test failed. haha |
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
3.10 bootloader? I just flashed the latest Verizon Rom and it's 3.05. From what rom did you get it from?
|
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
3.10 is only on the latest verizon, however the verizon does not update the bootloader. that is the issue i was having. i have the 3.05 and that works fine. i have the 3.08 from Alltel, Spint, and US Cellular, and 3.09 from US Cellular has well.
but the verizon one is the only one that had the 3.10 bootloader. so that is how i knew. open up the .sbf file in a Hexeditor and i am able to see what version it is. I do a seach for Boot_C, in the text field and you will get 2 results each one will show you the version. |
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
for what it's worth, i went through a few of the roms i have procured since
i got my q and these also have newer bootloaders TATA_Q2_C_01.0A.00I_01.0E.00R_MONSTER_01.sbf ====3.10 GENERIC_Q2_C_01.04.01I_UPGRADE_FILE_01 ====3.09 USC_Q2_C_01.07.00I_01.01.00R_MONSTER_02.sbf ====3.09 i also have an upgrade that seems to be just the bootloader with 3.05 also BOOT_C_03.05.00R_MPAP_IPL_mbm_Motorola_logo.sbf I have flashed several verizon roms on my q, and i don't think any of them updated the bootloader. |
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
anything? my brother has a q and I think utdbe cool to flash it
|
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
Yeah, I have really only ever seen 3.05 on devices, but then i got a evice that was verizon and had 3.10 bootloader, and it really got me thinking, not sure how they got it on there. but however it was, it didnt work for me. and so 3.05 is going to be the standard.

Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*

tomorrow I will begin asking about how a hard spl is contstructed at xda and maybe we can pool our work on this
|
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
cmonex is walking me through hardspl on Sunday or monday, so I will have an idea at that time, but agree, it is going to take some work to get all of this working. once we learn though. we will be able to get this.

Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*

Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
Well I brick a second Q working on this, Trying to get a HardSPL going. Once we can get that made it will be done, taking time for me to learn this right now that is all.
I also have bought a Q9c and Q9m, so I can test HardSPL on those later on has well. so everthing will be good. |

Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
Question, what are you doing with the bricked devices Con? :D You could probably sell all the batteries on ebay to buy some more Q's.
|
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
the thing that i do is i dont give up, so I said i was going to do this, and im not gonna give up on it. taking longer then I wanted but it will happen.
THe Q i have given the pricked onces to a local cell phone repair shop to use for parts. nice people, and it is always good to support local business. I think I might have to sell the batteries, that is a good idea. |
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
Yep, might as well sell what you can. I asked my buddy (who had a sprint Q) to donate but he threw his away.
|
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
yeah, i gave my 1st Q to a friend of mine at a sprint store a while back
|
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
I have a question con. What did you use to extract/repack the monster files?
|
Re: Custom ROM on Motorola Q *Project*
NM at the question above, but I do have another question. What did you use to extract the XIP?
