the only ways i have found is to have it rooted, or there is a program that allows you to get a screenshot through your desktop.

download dxTOP from the market, it assigns your camera button to take a screenshot while not in the camera app.

DxTop doesn't allow you to take screen captures of all screens. For example when you are in any of the phone applications the screen shot does not work. Until there is a decent application you can always follow the link I mentioned before -- www.droidbugs.com
