Looking for Exchange suggestions

So,

I really want to hook this phone up to the exchange server at work.

The problem is that I leave my email running at work, and I use outlook personal folders cuz I don't like to leave emails on big brothers server.

On my old win mobile phone, I was reluctantly using VZ Wireless Sync, but it worked and I was happy.

Is there anyway to get emails to my phone and also go to my office outlook client? I thought about just creating a forwarding rule and forward to one of my other external email accounts, but then I have the reply problem...it won't reply to the right people. I can't do a redirect because then it will not deliver it to my work client.

I really don't want to use some third party app to sync my local emails to their server like VZ wireless Sync was doing.

Anyway, looking for suggestions...

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Looking for Exchange suggestions

I'm not sure that answered my question.

I know I can create multiple email accounts on the phone. The question is how do I pull email from an exchange server that is delivering email to a personal folder file on the outlook client at my office.

Re: Looking for Exchange suggestions

It looks like you're configured in outlook to POP your email. If thats the case you will have to configure your email account on the Droid to POP as well.

One additional step though. Change the settings for your account on Outlook to delete the messages from the server after a day so that your phone will have time to access the messages before deleted. Only thing to be aware of is that if you download the messages at work and don't turn your phone on before they are removed from the server, the message wont show up on the Droid.

Side Note: Your Exchange server has a dumpster so your admins can likely restore any messages deleted. There's also a good chance they are journalling all users as well so they have copies of all mail sent and received to your mailbox. If you're using Big Brother's exchange server, and they want your email, there's nothing you can do to stop them from having full access. So, might as well consume their resources and storage space and set your account up for Exchange so that you can run a full sync.

Re: Looking for Exchange suggestions

Hi, not really. My outlook client at the office is using an Exchange account, that delivers mail to my personal folders file, not to my server side inbox.

I'm guessing that there's only two ways to make this work:

1) Deliver mail to my server side inbox, then have rules that move them to the personal folders manually.

2) have our exchange administrator forward them to another account for me. I doubt they're going to do this for me, as this is a huge company and they have better things to do.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Looking for Exchange suggestions

lol...I got it figured out. It was actually a lot simpler than I thought.

so, I switch my outlook / exchange account at work, to deliver email to my server side inbox.

Now I have emails being pushed to my droid exchange account...awesome.

Amazingly, my rules continue to work if I run them manually...since they all start with "check messages when they arrive", it doesn't matter whether 'arrive' means to the server inbox or my personal folders inbox. regardless, the rules move from the inbox to my PST folders....awesome.

Re: Looking for Exchange suggestions

You say it's possible to have mulitple Exchange accounts on Droid? I have the new EVO and it's not apparently obvious how to get 2 or more Exchange accounts configured. Do you have some detailed instructions or another Forum to point me to? I would really appreciate it, my boss won't let me keep this sweet phone unless I can get multiple Exchange accounts.
Thanks in advance.
