Screen after call ends

I am wondering if this is an issue on my phone or all. If I am on a call for longer than what the settings for the screen to turn off are, I am unable to hit 'end' due to the screen not lighting up. Is this occurring on all phones or just mine ?

I also had a problem on friday with not being able to hit my password for voicemail. the numbers would show up but not to my voicemail & it just kept asking for my password.

Re: Screen after call ends

for the screen issue, try giving the phone a shake, everytime its happened to me i am able to shake it and hang up w/o putting in a code...it could be an option though

Re: Screen after call ends

I've had the same problem also. It doesnt happen every time, but it has been occurring. My phone has also been resetting itself quite a bit, so I think iI am going to go to the vzw store today to exchange mine. I'm sure with the update on Dec 11th most of these issues will be resolved.

Next time I will try the "shake" and see if that solves anything, thanks jbag.

Re: Screen after call ends

It's the proximity sensor. I have it happen to me. Just change the position of your hands and the screen should come on.

I am TRYING to like this phone but... mine is a dud.

This happens to me alot too. I am starting to consider returning this phone.

Oh, how I want to love this phone. But, alas, I'll probably end up exercising my 30-day worry-free option. I've been a smartphone user for a long time and my Moto Droid is really not impressing me. Like I said, I really WANT to like it but it just sucks in so many ways. First, there's the issue the OP brought up. Mine also will occasionally ring through the earpiece, not the speaker on the back (I've missed several calls because I couldn't hear the phone ringing). The voice search is sketchy--sometimes amazingly accurate, other times total crap. The battery life is a joke. The GUI is sooo lame and plain and inflexible. I know there will be custom roms at some point, but boy is mine laggy and buggy and ugly and not fun.

On the other hand, the web browser is awesome and quick. Amazing resolution allows viewing entire width of web pages with ease. Love the sharpness of this screen BUT... the colors and brightness are poor compared to others. My Omnia has much better color and brightness. Even my wife's HTC Droid Eris has better color and brightness (but her battery life is worse than the Moto Droid).

There. I got it out of my system. I'm wearing my flame resistant suit so let 'er rip.

Re: I am TRYING to like this phone but... mine is a dud.

Wow, my experience is quite the opposite - as far as battery life, this thing lasts twice as long as my old htc touch pro and I use this a heck of a lot more. No need to charge at all during the day, basically put it on charge at night and take it off in the morning and no need to worry about it. Either you came from something that was wonderful or I came from something that was horrible. Sorry about your experience, but the Droid is da bomb for me

Re: Screen after call ends

With auto adjust brightness, and sync set to manual your battery should easily last 2-3 days with mild use, but for the screen problem try to keep your fingers away from the top left of the screen; because that's where the proximity sensor is and if your hand is any where near the top left it will keep on blacking out the screen because it thinks your talking on the phone during a call.

Replacement DROID works properly!

OK, I take back everything I said. I definitely had a defective unit. Yesterday, Verizon replaced my bad Droid with a fresh new fully-functioning one. I am enjoying it a lot. Everything works (unlike my dud from before). So, I am liking it and all is well!

The ringing/notification speaker problem is known to Verizon. I'm on my third Droid. As soon as I described my problems to TS they immediately advised to exchange for another one or sit on it until Dec. 11 fix...
