I'm willing to bet you won't see retail droids with these updates until Feb. or later. This phone was Verizon's big push, so they produced a lot of them, so they'll clear through back stock first.

Get it now, the phone is fine as is, with some minor tweaks to come.

I wouldn't count on that really.. since all the updates are now pushed OTA there wouldn't be a reason for these updates to come out on time or on the back stock - reps just have to make sure the updates apply before you leave the store. They used to have to do the same thing with the Storm when the 4.7.x.148 software was released back in August.

I dunno though.. I'm happy with mine and I know I don't have to take mine in the store to have them flash it or update it.. they simply come down like I got something from the market.

Re: December 11th soft/firm updates

depends how much those issues will affect you. the only one that really affected me was the attachment issue and i got around it. as far as i'm concerned, the phone is awesome and when the few minor bugs get fixed it will only get more awesome. however, it's not like it won't be there later. you can take your time and hold off for a while if you're not itchy for a new toy like i was

Yeah, the only issue I've had is more of a nuisance than anything. If I can't enter text to reply to a message, I just hit the home key, and then open the message again and all is well.

The next few days will tell us more about the frequency of errors users are reporting since many are just now getting their Friday/weekend orders from Verizon's website.

Re: December 11th soft/firm updates

Well i was fortune enough to pick up the Motorola Droid Saturday morning. I love this thing it does everything. yes the small problems are a little annoying but i think there coming damn close to figuring out how to make a phone. The Windows phones were nice and were fun to mess with but with verizons over the air updates this phone will always work great. One question though besides typing each name you want to text is there a better way or app that anybody has found that make this a simple task?

Re: December 11th soft/firm updates

An update they really should have included is support for Bluetooth HIDs, such as Bluetooth keyboards...
