Rooted my stock 2.1, Now to OC

So now I have my stock android 2.1 rooted, and I'm looking to overclock (so jealous of my friends Incredible!) Is there a way to update the kernal and overclock this puppy without flashing a new rom? I don't think I'm ready for a new rom yet.

EDIT: I did figure this out and succesfully Rooted and OC'd my Moto Droid 2.1 OTA. If anyone has any questions ask them here, if not you can can this thread.

EDIT 2: No I guess I lied, I can't get it to OC. I installed one of Chevy's kernels and got SetCpu purchased and running, but setcpu doesnt seem to read the kernel it isnt allowing me to up the speed. Rebooting phone now.

just install rom manager and get it over with, you'll be able to restore back to stock if you do a backup before installation, you won't regret it.

Are you running it on Autodetect? That is the only way to get SetCPU to OC on the Droid. If you specifically select the Droid as your device in the SetCPU menu, it will only let you underclock.

I followed this guide here:

http://forum.droidmod.org/index.php?...ic,1004.0.html

and it worked real easy. I downloaded that rsd thing and two files and I was done, easy as pie!

Now the only thing is I am having problems installing a rom, I'm probably going to download that rom manager dealy and try from there.
