What power plan you using on oc? I find that I'm having better battery life with the latest 6.062, some people think certain themes use more power as well

I am running 2.1 stock, but used to be rooted. I was running one of Chevy's 5 slot 1.0GHz offerings. I was getting great battery life and it suddenly went south. Since going back to stock, I have also been getting great battery life and suddenly the other day it went south again. I started putting 2 and 2 together and realized that the battery incidents both occurred after a market update of an app and in both cases the problem resolved itself in a day or two with another update to that app. In both cases there were two different apps involved. I don't know much about whats under the hood on these Linux based systems, but it appears to me that sometimes misbehaving apps can cause the sudden battery issues.

Try a black background, also install the low Voltage kernels see if that helps.
