Will VPN Connections work with Rooted 2.1 Droid?
This is perhaps a random question, but I was able to follow the instructions to use the .sbf to dial my droid back to 2.0.1. I then followed the instructions to apply a merged and rooted update to the phone.
I downloaded a terminal client and able to type in "su" and get the hash mark. I also have the ninja looking icon my applications menu, but I can't seem to get VPN Connections to work properly. After setting up my VPN information, I long press and choose "Connect". The following message comes up every time:
Sorry! The application VPN Connections (process org.codeandroid.vpnc_frontend) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Currently the 2.1 ROM has everything that I think I need, but if there is better ROM (Cyanogen or Bugless Beast) that others would recommend, I'm open to suggestions. Unfortunately, the Cisco IPSEC VPN is very important for my work. Anybody have any ideas? Both the .sbf and the update threw errors, but the it appears that I still have root access. Strangely, it didn't delete all of my programs - they were all there when the phone booted back up in rooted 2.1
Thanks in advance,
Seth
P.S. I read through the get-a-robot webpage a little more and saw that you needed to have both busybox and tun.ko installed. I was able to get tun.ko installed, but am struggling with busybox currently. If anybody has any suggestions, I'd sure appreciate it. Currently, the commands at the site that I have been using don't completed work with Android and I'm needing to find the syntax specific to Android. I'm pretty much a newbie at Android and Linux in general, but have a strong tech background. Thanks.
