To even get that to work I had to change the autostart.sh from whiterabbit initial IP addresses to an IP i found online from 2003. I really think the issue lies with finding a functional IP and Port for alltel to accept.

Did you check what ip and port the hero was trying to connect for its 3g(ev)?
Yeah, that sounds like the same issue we were having, and forcing 1x seemed to do ok.

However, I believe I've found the answer, we're just going to test for a couple of days and make sure. The 3g icon is staying now though.

I've got screenshots of the process which I will throw up on my blog and then drop a link here... if it ends up being the real deal. It's looking good...

EDIT: I did nothing with the internal workings of the android software, all my changes were done with either CDMA tools or QPST. I'm going to google around for this autostart.sh you're talking about... I want to say we tried something like that early on but gave up on it very quickly. Also, MMS was not a concern of ours, so it has not been tested.

Re: Motorola Droid on Alltel

Any luck on this? i have been doing many things and playing with APNs like crazy hoping to figure something out. I did reflash and ignore the autostart.sh and it seemed to work just fine. 1x seems to connect most of the time for me sometimes i get 3g, but mainly i just can't send mms, also when i recieve mms, it is always dropped down to 29kb (thumbnail size) for no reason.

Re: Motorola Droid on Alltel

We're still working on MMS... it seems that the Hero uses a different app than android has built in. It looks like it's using an HTC app customized for alltel. So that doesn't help.

I'm not sure if our 3g solution is working or not, mainly because we get the same speeds up/down that we got with 1x. The only difference is the 3g icon in the bar stays.

Re: Motorola Droid on Alltel

WOW! Still, this would be soooooo awesome! Anyone figure it out yet bc Alltels phones still suck!!!!!!!!! I want a phone with a keyboard, and I like the Droid. Like my TP too, but it's getting old. Hoping for something here to materialize.

Re: Motorola Droid on Alltel

A little off topic, but how can Alltel offer an aged phone for the same price as the Droid 2? Screw you, Alltel! Get with the game! So tempted to bite the bullet and go to VZW just cause I'm so sick of having to spend hours tweaking a better phone to work with Alltel. I am, however, willing to give the Droid a chance if I can pick one up cheap enough. My tp is about to be thrown out the window and I need a new phone. I'll keep my eye on this thread and see how the Droid to Alltel is working out.

Re: Motorola Droid on Alltel

Yeah I even tried to get the same telephony.db from a hero but for some reason couldn't get it. No idea. I even bought a Sprint hero and thought I might see if that would transfer over but it had the same issue. Oh well I think i got about a month before AT&T takes over I bought at&t branded Captivates and plan on switching to those instead of updating my plan i bought them on ebay.

Re: Motorola Droid on Alltel

Anybody know how to get 2.2 up and running on an Alltel Milestone. I found this thread but didn't want to bump it.

Would this work with an Alltel phone?
