changing memory cards

did some google searching to try and find this answer and couldnt...

i have a temp memory card in my Droid and will be getting bigger card soon...

how do i change the cards with out losing all the apps ive loaded?

is it as simple as connecting my phone to a pc and copying everything on the storage card, then putting the new card in the phone and pasting it all back?
or are there hidden files on the card i wont see?

thanx
Danny

Re: changing memory cards

The apps will stay installed on your phone. Once you get the new card in the phone, download Astro file manager and back them up. This will save them to the new card.

Re: changing memory cards

sorry, but not quite following... wouldnt i need to back them up first, then restore them on the new card?
i already have astro,

...

just opened astro and performed an App back up, which appears to have created a new folder on the card called 'backups'. i assume i need to copy that to the new card and then perform an 'install' from astro?

thanx
Danny

Just use your PC and copy all of the files off of the current card on to your new card.

Re: changing memory cards

i just did the exact thing you're about to do. all i did was mount the old sd card on my computer and copy the files to a folder. then i unmounted, switched cards and mounted the new one. then i copied all the files to the new one and i was good to go without a hitch.
