Re: new to droid
if you still cant see all your contacts on the phone but you can on gmail try this
open contacts>menu>display options>click your google account>and click "all other contacts" and itll sync every contact in your gmail not just ones in "my contacts"

Re: new to droid
thanx, but the issue isnt seeing contacts, i see them all. but when i click on them, theres no data (numbers, emails, etc)
could this be because i have no memory card yet? if so, should i perform a factory reset prior to putting the memory in for the first time??? (not sure if setting up all my email acounts prior to having a memory card in is bad or not?) |

Re: new to droid
Try re-syncing them. Tap phone>contacts tab>menu>accounts(be sure auto sync and background data are checked)>tap on your Google account>uncheck and recheck "sync contacts". You shold see the sync arrows beside the checkbox spinning. It will let you know when they are sync'd. I had to do this after rooting and flashing to get my contacts to show up.

Re: new to droid
heres the update, then i need to get back to work...
turn out that when outlook exports a csv file it uses different column names then Gmail does, so when Gmail imported them it showed up in the contacts, but under different description names, like 'Cell' instead of 'Mobile' Gmail doesnt care what they are call, but whne you sync the Droid to the Gmail account... Droid will only show certain fields, such as 'Mobile' but not 'Cell' So thats why i could see all my contacts but they had no numbers (same goes for the naming convention of email addresses....) so to solve the issue, i exported a gmail csv to see the proper naming convention and renamed my csv file and imported it back in... alls good... as much as im enjoying the Droid (even without apps yet)... WM has it been on ease of syncing |

Re: new to droid
I agree with you there, but then again you are using 2 microsoft products together with WinMo and Outlook. So naturally, that's how it should be I guess.
