Is Droid worth it?

Am I the only one that is getting sick of Android.I have had the Droid since the day it came out and in the last week it started freezing up. The screen goes blank but the buttons at bottom stay on. Have to do a battery pull to resit. This happened 3 times this week. Verizon was such jurks they act like there is nothing wrong. What I would like to know do you all think this phone is worth it? I'm so ______at Verizon I went back to an older phone and don't want to use this anymore. Guess I have wasted more than 200 dollars before. Are you happy with yours?

Re: Is Droid worth it?

Firstly you should do a full factory wipe which removes everything from the device (SDCard won't be affected) and start over. You may have had some bad app on the device which was corrupted or causing a conflict. If the issue persists then press on with Verizon.

To Wipe the device:
Pull the battery and then replace it.
Press and hold the 'X' button on your keyboard and then press and hold the Power button.
Release when you see a caution and exclamation icon on the screen.
Hold Volume Up then press the camera key then release both.
This will bring up the recovery screen. Use the keypad to select the factory wipe/reset then use the middle button on the keypad to select.
When you reboot you'll need to start from scratch by entering your gmail account info.

Don't take crap from Verizon reps. Go to a different location if you have to; make sure you go to a corporate store with a technician center. Outline that the issue is ongoing and intermittent and you want it fixed. Outline all the troubleshooting you've done.

Be firm and clear but don't be rude. If the people in the store don't treat you well call customer service while you're still in the store and give customer service the names of the people in the store who won't resolve the issue.

The phone is good and shouldn't be acting in that manner.

Re: Is Droid worth it?

I bought my droid on the day it came out. I have had no problems with the phone. Only downside is no flash support. That will come soon enough though. If you are having problems contact motorola. They are the ones that offer the 1 year warranty. Or try another location.

Re: Is Droid worth it?

Sure the Droid might have occasional issues but what is out there that is better? I pretty much own all the latest telephones and I think the Droid is the best by a long shot.

+1 There arent many Droid owners that are dissatisfied with their phones.

Re: Is Droid worth it?

at first I second guessed myself with going with the Droid. I was used to the Touch Pro and WinMo. After taking the time to learn all the ins/outs of the Droid, I'll probably never get away from the Android OS. The ability to make the device "my own personal phone" has me addicted to it. I love the Droid.

Re: Is Droid worth it?

I just gave up my Imagio and switched to the Motorola Droid....I must say that I am loving it. Coming from a 6 year PPC owner running Windows Mobile 2003 up until my latest WM device , the Imagio running WM6.5. Every OS has it's flaws. I think that it is a personal choice. As far as the Device goes...it too has a few flaws in my personal opinion...but you learn to accept them and move on. But that post that mentioned be persistant and talk to someone else if that employee doesn't help you is very true and if you follow that advice it will go a long way. I hope they take of you and resolve that issue.

Re: Is Droid worth it?

i have had several winmo phones, and was never happier than with my touch pro.
until i got my droid. it just kills winmo. there were so many things that we had to have custom ROMs to get done, and the droid does em all right out of the box. and if not, most likely there is an app.

I converted from Windows Mobile to Droid... Man it's awesome.
Since I've gotten the Droid, I've Rooted it... and now...

I have it overclocked at 1GHz, Milestone Multitouch Browser(Way Better than Dolphin)/Gallery... and a million apps. OH yea and COMPLETELY stable... never had reboots, issues, and Don't have the memory leak problem that I had with Windows Mobile ROMs. Ugh, what a nightmare that was.

The only thing that might NOT make the droid worth it may be the Nexus One but... I think it's overated.
