Re: Is Droid worth it?
I guess I am in the same boat. Its a little long but bear with me as my decision depends on it.
I got the Eris the day it came out. Love the specs of the phone but missed the full keyboard. From what I read and was told by the rep, it could read microsoft word documents and edit them and I could use my yahoo email. For some reason that didn't happen. Also it seemed that the phone would completely shut down all programs but yet it was still working/running. I brought it back and they gave me a new one. Still had the same problem with the word docs with the new one and the email issue. I got rid of it and got the Touch Pro 2 and it was a good phone. A little big but fine. Now I am running into the usual winmo problems and getting tired of it. My wife just got the Moto Droid and just for goofs I put my sd card in and it read all my word docs but couldn"t edit (Docs to go lite version). Plus her hotmail email works with the phone. Now here's the questions: 1. Did I just get 2 bad phones (which hs happened to me before) 2. Is that just how the Eris works 3. Is yahoo mail the email problem I had 4. Should I dump my touch pro 2 and get the Moto Droid Thanks in advance for all the help. Phone History: VX 6800 / SMT 5800 / Blackcurve / HTC Ozone / HTC Eris / HTC Pro Touch 2 |

Re: Is Droid worth it?
I started this and I kept my Droid. If you get full doc to go it will edit office stuff just fine.I have seen on other forums that yahoo was a problem for Droid. I don't use it.I use roadrunner and it works ok for me. I had touch pro 2 before I got droid it isn't a bad phone but very limited by processor and windows. Windows 7 mobile will be better but touch pro 2 may not work with it.Moto does need to speed updates and Droid should be fine.

1. No, your salesman is just either misinformed or a liar... or both. 2. Yeah, with the default apps it is just how it works; however you can get it working the way you want if you pay more money. 3. Yahoo is a problem for any POP/SMTP client; unless of course you upgrade to the paid service from yahoo. This link details how POP isn't part of the free service and also details how to upgrade to mailplus: http://overview.mail.yahoo.com/enhancements/mailplus 4. Yes ![]() |

Re: Is Droid worth it?
the only thing i don't like on the droid was the fact that any other email besides gmail is a pain in the a** to setup. I had to go and find all the settings on the internet. Plus the fact that you don't get the email rights away. there is a 5 minute refresh interval. But ive grown to like the phone way too much to get rid of it for that reason.

if any of you are unhappy with your droid i would be more than happy to take the pesky device for you. you know, to save you the headaches.
