Unhappy adb shell

I can not for the life of me figure out how the hell to do anything from this because I cant get it to run I have all the files unzipped on my desktop for easy access I have read pages and pages of junk and I can't get it to work...I have the phone rooted and I am comfortable with nandroid and giving commands from the terminal emulator on the phone but I can't get my wifi back after overclocking and I am getting frustrated to the point that I am ready to give up root access to have functionality. They keep telling me that if I use adb shell with blah blah commands it will fix it and I don't understand why the terminal em. commands won't work someone please help me. Btw I have looked at all the links and I can't figure out what the heck they mean becasue they are so generic so specific help for a noob with android is appreciated.

EDIT*******I just figured it out............ so now I can give commands but I am still getting a cp not found when I try the wifi fix someone please help me

Re: adb shell

Sounds like you're caught in a place I was. Turns out when you use adb shell you must be sure to have your sd card NOT mounted to your computer.

Another thing to be aware of is sometimes you're supposed to use adb shell when your phone is in the recovery console and sometimes you're supposed to use it when you're in the standard phone's desktop.

If that's not it, verify the file they want you to modify is in the location that the instructions say it is, by navigating there using your phone's file manager.

Good Luck.

YOU ARE THE MAN!!! all I had to do was to put into recovery mode and away she went thanks a ton. So I am overclocked at 800..(900 made the droid a little warm but 800 actually seems cooler then stock) deleted some of the factory junk blocked ota updates....what now....(really don't want 2.1 til its fully functional) is there anything you recommend??

Re: adb shell

Awesome. Glad I could help.

Make sure to get your Nandroid backups going as a priority.

I am currently using the Blue Smoked Glass ROM (2.0.1) I really like it and you don't have to wipe everything to install it either.

There's alot of good 2.0.1 roms out there though, I am in the same mindset as you where I don't want to mess with 2.1 until there's a version designed for this phone.

Re: adb shell

As far as cp not working, if you haven't installed busy box, it won't.if you have busy box installed, you need to pass commands through busybox. try typing busybox cp, and it should work

Why donate to one person, when you can support the site that makes it all possible instead
