Getting a replacement phone - What do I need to do to back evrything up?

I am getting a replacement Droid. What all do I need to do to back my info and apps up so that I don't have to spend a month getting everything back? I have my apps backed up in Astro. Will this place them onm the new device? Is there a way to back up everything, messages and all? Thanks

I'm hopiong someone smarter than I chimes here also. I believe you are on the right track having Astro back up the apps to your sdcard. When you switch the card over to the new phone, you should be able to restore them.

By coincidence though, I am on the trail for the solution to a related problem. I have written an app and it creates an sqlite database. I find that the Astro apk does not contain the database file. I'm trying to solve that issue as we speak. It bothers me that when we think we might be backing up the app, we are losing the data used by the app. I fear then that a restored app won't have the data we thought was backed up.

I might add that the WaveSecure app has a backup feature for contacts, sms messages and call logs. If you want to check that out, do so before the end of January. Free subscriptions are being offered now that won't be free next month.

if your rooted.. you could just do a nandroid backup.. and then root the new device... and just restore the nandroid and its like you never changed phones.

99% of your apts and user information is on your SD card, just swap card's and sync to your gmail account and you should have all your apts and contacts (may have to set up on gmail emails again)

oh and text arn't saved for some odd reason.

Also, in Settings->Privacy Settings there's a toggle for Backup my settings which supposedly backs up *something* to your google account in the cloud.

I never found out what exactly gets backed up. I've read the your Market status for paid apps is one thing but I know no more.
