Gmail filters and alerts

So I have just consolidated all my email onto gmail and have officially dubbed gmail my official email provider. (Goodbye yahoo... good riddance.)

I have filters set up to get rid of the email that I don't necessarily need to know about, but might like to view at some point... Most notably, Facebook notifications, promotional emails from places I do business with, etc... They're not spam, but they're not something that I need to know about.

The Droid still beeps when I get any mail to my gmail account. How do I disable notification on certain labeled messages?

This also would improve security... My Mobile Defense is set up to go into a folder. I'd hate the thief to know that I'm tracking him.
