[ROM] - Nexus 2.1 from HC w/ Wi-Fi Tether

Okay folks, I kept waiting for someone else to do this so I didn't have to go through the work, but I am horribly impatient, sometimes more so than I am lazy! So I present to you Humancyborg's Nexus 2.1 ROM with cooked in wi-fi tethering! Special thanks go to Humancyborg and haxzamatic for the original ROM and visual updates from this thread at alldroid:

I have verified the wi-fi working on this ROM, I actually uploaded it to mediafire through the wireless connection! To start wi-fi click on the black helper widget, a popup will say tethering enabled, then you can launch the app to view stats. To disable tethering, just click the widget again, simple as that. NOTE: Due to limitations in the current app, only ad-hoc networks are supported, and you must connect to the wi-fi hotspot right away, because if you don't it won't show up anymore.

ROM is simply a nandroid backup, so backup your current settings, format data, cache, and system, and then restore this one instead.

Can you walk me through on how to flash the 2.1 rom? I came from WinMo and am totally unfamiliar with all this, plus I have not really had any time to freak out on my Droid and after flashing mad roms on my Omnia I am in need of a fix.

First things first, you need to see the post on how to root your droid, located here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=102966 After you have done that, boot into recovery mode (Hold X on the keyboard while powering up) on your phone and create a backup of your stuff (Backup/Restore, create a simple nandroid backup). Reboot normally and mount SD to your PC. Go into the nandroid folder on your SD and move the folder that is in there (Should be named something like BCDMRS-DATE AND TIME) to a safe place on your PC. Take the similarly named folder from the zip file I uploaded, put it in your nandroid folder, reboot into recovery, clear user data, format system and cache, and perform a default nandroid restore. Then your like nextel....done!

I did this to my Droid Tether works awsome, but this rom is VERY S L O W....

Yeah, unfortunately the wifi tethering kernel is just not ideal yet. Hopefully, when2.1 goes open source we will get a better one

I have also just posted up a wifi tether patcher that works for 2.x versions ... so you can have wifi tether on your current setup, without installing this fresh ROM.
