I wouldn't say the Eris is 'Just as nice if not better' but I also wouldn't say it's a bad device. It's shmexy and sleek. I was mostly disappointed with how thick the thing is... it's really quite fat. Sense UI is pretty nice too.

When's your upgrade date?
What plan is your phone on? (Is it a secondary line? 9.99)
What phone do you have now?

Try telephone support. 1) if your first rep doesn't budge you can try a couple times for different reps as from what i can tell they don't update your "permanent record" with phone calls results and 2) they can usually turn to their supervisor for assistance and often the goal is to make you happy so they can get on to the next call.

I missed if you currently have a data plan but Banden was right that their number one goal is to sell data plans, not keep you stuck on a dump phone.

my account says i have 13 or 14 months left before an upgrade but it says 10/10 for upgrade.

I considered HTC but family member found good deal on the moto droid and the keyboard is something I really don't know how I could live without. I have been using Swype which is a very handly tool but there are times when I just MUST have the keyboard. Well worth the extra money imo so hopefully HTC will realize this and put one in soon.

ever since I've gone 2.1 and the kb light doesn't work I've learned to master the onscreen keyboard in portrait and landscape with minimal errors.
