Try telephone support. 1) if your first rep doesn't budge you can try a couple times for different reps as from what i can tell they don't update your "permanent record" with phone calls results and 2) they can usually turn to their supervisor for assistance and often the goal is to make you happy so they can get on to the next call.
I missed if you currently have a data plan but Banden was right that their number one goal is to sell data plans, not keep you stuck on a dump phone.
