Re: Any other (former) WinMo users frustrated at lack of Droid customization?
I really don't have any gripes about the normal volume either. The sound is good. My only issue is when I am on an airplane. The engine noise is such that it makes it extremely hard to hear through the headphones. I have tried several different styles, and without paying a hundred bucks for earphones, I guess I'm screwed... Until there is a volume tweak available...

Re: Any other (former) WinMo users frustrated at lack of Droid customization?
Phillips sells a set of noise canceling ear buds at Wal Mart for $20. They also have various soft rubber adapters that will fit any size ear pretty well. I've always hated ear buds with a passion because they just hurt after wearing them for more than 5 minutes. I've worn these for hours on flights with no problems. There's also a nice little inline boost option for increasing the bass and overall volume. You need a AA battery or two?) for these though.
*edit* these are not true "noise canceling" technology, rather "ear plug" type buds that just block out 75% or so of the ambient noise. They still work great and you can't beat the price. Last edited by Jvince; 12-04-2009 at 05:26 PM. |

I can't customize as much on my droid as i did on my Titan, but then again, I don't need to hack and mod a bunch of stuff to make the Droid usable.

Re: Any other (former) WinMo users frustrated at lack of Droid customization?
I think thats a lot of the issue for those of us that really enjoy modifying our devices. There's really not many things that need improvement on this phone, and for the things that do need improvement, there are already fixes on the way for many of them. Even with the phone working as well as it does it will still end up being rooted and improved. Imagine the new capabilities that we'll have once the rooting begins.

Re: Any other (former) WinMo users frustrated at lack of Droid customization?
Wow. I am in the same boat. Prob going to return the droid in the next few days. I really like it alot, almost love it but there are just too many things that it is missing that seem like common sense. From winmo I really miss the nice divx video playback of coreplayer and the great outlook integration, especially tasks and notes. The only way I'd even think of going back winmo is if the HD2 came out but i am hoping HTC will bring the HD2 hardware with Sense+android and I know it would be the killer device for me. Even HTCs Android OS in the Droid would make it the killer phone.

Re: Any other (former) WinMo users frustrated at lack of Droid customization?
I have been playing around with the TP2 for a while and my fiance's Droid. I have to say that I am not that impressed with the TP2 other than the customization and keyboard. I am the type of person that wants everything in a phone and it seems that the Droid delivers it a lot faster. I think the straw that finally did it was me being on another forum and I couldn't link to the You tube link. Instead I had to write down the name and use the Youtube app. I know that Internet explorer and other browsers work, but I don't feel like having 4 browsers on my phone, which I did. I went to the same forum with the Droid and it linked perfectly. I really wish that there was a cross breed of TP2 and Droid, then I would be in Heaven. I am going to miss the autozoom (windows media Player), stylus, and keyboard on TP2 but I will get over it. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the TP2, but I don't see it lasting two years as the Droid will. The droid is still a baby and I think there is more to come with that phone. Just my opinion.
