[VGA]Manila 2.1 Panoramic Background v2b

4 Attachment(s)
VGA Panoramic Mod for Gen.Y Manila 2.1

9 September 2009 update
-Fixed black curtain in secondary menus for Gen.Y Panorama v2b.cab

1 September 2009 update to v2b
-Updated/optimized lua script thanks to theboostman
-Default black curtain while sliding in all secondary menus (ie Music-Library) now
-Preview Icon while sliding made semi-transparent (75% opacity)
-Changed to Kamill's CompactHome Classic Full in 'VGA Gen.Y 2.1 Panorama with mods', as date, alarm, and carrier are all present in same layout as stock.

31 August 2009 update to v2a
-Fixed right side of landscape image not aligning with end of screen
-Made 'VGA Gen.Y 2.1 Panorama with mods' compatible with all Manila 2.1 language packs (also updated in 'v2.0 with mods')
-Added Kamill's CompactHome Standard to 'VGA Gen.Y 2.1 Panorama with mods'.
-Now shows 3 appointments on homescreen, 4 when clock pushed up, and auto-hiding call history.

21 August 2009 update to v2.0
-Compatible with all tab counts now
-Opaque background on all level 1 manila menus
-Again thanks to theboostman for these nice improvents!

20 August 2009 update to v1.2
-No more lines in portrait thanks to theboostman!
-Tweaked background image size to fix alignment issue at bottom of screen

17 August 2009 update to v1.1
-Added version for people who want 8 tabs in TF3D2.1 interface (is compatible with >4 tabs selected, image will not show when 4 or fewer tabs are present). Please note that 'Library' menus under music tab will not have a white background with the 8 tab compatible version.
-Fixed minor portrait image skew
-Improved landscape panorama - now uses the same 1536x512 image as portrait (can use same 512x512 image for both landscape and portrait now). It should also adjust correctly now to differing amounts of tabs.
-Changed Alarm icon

This is a panoramic mod for yozgatg's Gen.Y Manila 2.1 VGA port. Thanks go to yozgatg for his great port, NisseDILLIGAF and rotastrain for the panoramic mods they created, and Chainfire and 6Fg8 for their great development tools. This is based almost entirely on rotastrain's work, including being able to display the panoramic background while scrolling. I mainly got it to fit VGA correctly and changed the landscape panoramic view so that you can see the full wallpaper and it is not cut off. Many thanks to theboostman for removing lines in portrait mode and making the opaque white background appear in all menus and Kamill for the CompactHomeScreen mod.

You can watch a video of it in action here.

Gen.Y Panorama v2b contains only the panoramic manila files and the two backgrounds pictured above, so that you will still have the same slider, curtains, clock, etc.

Gen.Y Panorama with mods v2b.cab contains the panoramic manila files, and the two backgrounds pictured above, as well as the hidden when inactive call history/calendar (compatible with 25 languages), black-glass flip clock, Lucarp78's transparent slider, no curtains, and Kamill's CompactHome Classic Full. This is the version pictured and in the video. The icons by bullet7722 are not included.

Gen.Y Panorama mods v2b-No CompactHome
contains all things in Gen.Y Panorama with mods v.2b.cab except the CompactHome mod.

Gen.Y pano-slide move down fix 2b.cab will move the image down if it moves higher while sliding. Seems to be needed with NRG's Roms.

Known issues
-Some people are having the image move up/down while sliding across tabs. If this happens to use, please try the Gen.Y pano-slide move down fix.cab (do not uninstall VGA Gen.Y Panorama cab).
-Two thin vertical lines may appear on background in landscape mode

See Post #2 for more backgrounds!

FAQ:
1) I have Energy ROM and get blend of original background with the panoramic one.
See solution posted by hefman HERE.

2) What are the two thin vertical lines between images?
They are a by-product of the way the mod is written and cannot be fixed at this time (may be influenced by image quality).

3) The image moves up while sliding.
Please try Gen.Y pano-slide move down fix.cab from post #1.

Creating your own images:
Panoramic images for created as with the other panoramic mods (so search if you need a detailed guide :)). Briefly, a 1536x512 panoramic picture is made into 3 sequential 512x512 .png images (named pano1,pano2,pano3 or whatever.). These images are then placed into 67ea4038_manila, 67fc58b9_manila, and 680e713a_manila for portrait with cfcgui and cfc compressed (optional). 6832a23c_manila, 6844babd_manila, and 682089BB_manila are the files for landscape. Copy them to /windows on your device and overwrite the ones there to change the background (requires restart of tf3d2.1). The manila files to edit are available here.

Guide for creating your own wallpapers by rotastrain.

Cabs for backgrounds I've made. Click image to download and restart manila/phone once cab is installed:
Most contain portrait and landscape cabs, so you can choose which you want. The zip contains cabs and larger .jpg to preview before install if you wish. Preview is portrait mode, landscape may be cropped.

Good job & great detailed explanations !!!

Is it possible to make the same on TF3D1 : I mean the "no cut-off" image while scrolling ?

Thanks a lot,

^^

It shouldn't be too hard to get it to work on TF3D1, as it based off of NisseDILLIGAF's work (things have just been added). I'll look into it when I get some time if you don't mind testing it out for me :).

Great, Thanks ^^

I wonder : wouldn't be better to put the full image 1536x512 instead of the 3 parts 512x512 ?
I know neither mode9 nor LUA so it may be too complicated to do...

If you are talking about the 2 thin vertical lines you see, then yes it's normal and no one has figured a way out to fix it. It seems more prominent on some backgrounds than others.

I did not test it because I haven't installed manila 2.1 (I'm waiting for a cooked rom with my language) yet but I believed that you did manage to get rid of those scrolling lines...

This issue surely comes from the fact that the image is split into 3 parts so a solution to not have these lines would be to have only one big image of 1536x512 : is someone able to do that ?

Im running energy aug. 11. rom and after installing the first attachment cab the background works but behind the slider AND onlyon the home tab there is still energy's background mixed with the new background.

Also the energy background only shows up behind the slider when you begin to slide it from the homepage but the background will be perfect if you slide it from any other tab.

See the FAQ in post 2 for a solution. I think it is to change the wallpaper and say yes when it asks you if you want to use the default one.

I think the manila image files can only be 512 pixels wide, so that is why there are 3 put together. Please see message below as well.

I cannot send you a private messages, so I am posting this here. I tried to make the changes to the TF3D1 panoramic mod so that you will have the panoramic wallpaper showing while changing tabs and added landscape support. Please try it and let me know. The TF3D1 manila file does not have as must stuff in it, so I really don't know how well it will work. If you can test it, I can probably change/adjust the position of the wallpaper as needed. Thanks.

Hi,

thanks for your answers, I 'm gonna test your file now...

EDIT: it doesn't work on TF3D1... but it doesn't matter because tomorrow a French rom with Yozgatg manila 2.1 will be released so I'll install your TF3D2.1 mod ;)

thanks for your efforts

Yeah, sometimes the font is hard to read on certain menus. One person at XDA installed a new system/touchflo font that helped him some. You can look into that. No one has come up with a solution yet. If you have a background you want made, just post a link to the pic and I'll do it when I have some time. It's not hard to learn how to do, but it hardly takes me anytime these days :D.

You don't have to, but you will end up with an extra entry in the remove programs menu. It can be removed before or after you've installed the new one (I think).

Some how I ended up with the wallpaper mod and on my home screen the call history and calendar where hidden..BUT just the TEXT the icon of the phone and the calander where still there and you could click them to go to the tabs...Now when I install the mods cab its nothing there and the original cab has the text too.

I think I installed the orginial then the mod cab on top of that, un-installed it...and maybe reset. But i can't reproduce it now...

It would be best to uninstall the mod cab before installing the regular one. The regular cab file does not contain the manila files that are changed by the mod cab, so they'll still be there if not uninstalled. If it doesn't uninstall cleanly and you need to know what files to delete or want a cab to restore the Gen.Y files, just let me know.

If you like everything with the mod cab, but just want the alarm/calendar icons, copy the manila file I've attached to your /windows directory using total commander or resco explorer and restart tf3d2.1. Also, I noticed I forgot something in the cabs and just fixed it, so you may want to download them again. I don't know what's going on with your clock, but I'd uninstall the mod, soft reset, and try again :).

If anyone is interested heres the "glass" looking program tabs, they look pretty good with this and allow you to see a little more of the pano pic.

I liked those as well, but didn't the the green. I used that background, but removed the giant green + and put in the default one. It's pictured below (actual image from manila file, it is transparent). :)

That looks right if you installed the panorama mod cab and then installed the white clock and the manila file I posted a couple posts above to get the call/calendar icons. Is that what you were shooting for?

Update to 2.0. All manila menus now have an opaque background (ie easy to read!) and it is compatible with any number of tabs (no need for special version). Thanks again to theboostman at XDA for these fine improvements.

edit - if you downloaded the cabs and have an error with a gap in the portrait panorama, please re-download the cab (I forgot to change 1 value :o).

there a crap load of wallpapers already made up over at smartphonejunkie already rar'd and megaUPLOADED. they work perfect with this theme. You just cut the three manilla files inside the folder of the background you want and copy them over to windows and "overwrite all". Theres like 40 wallpapers here. I put the whole 49mb file in my card labeled "panoramic files". Much easier than installing a cab each time you want to change your wallpaper. Heres the link, and all the pictures are there too.

http://www.smartphonejunkie.com/blac...e-t185871.html

Its a theme thread, but all the wallpapers are there. Enjoy!

i got a problem, i cut my custom wallpapers into 3 pngs 512x512 each, pened up the manila tool selected the folder where the manila files to edit are and replaced each one with the correct pngs i made and they show up fine in the preview box, but when i copy those new manila files i de and restart tf3d2.1 all i get is a white background in portrait and landscape. i can copy over someone else manila and panoramic mod 2.0 wrks fine (perfect in portrait but i still have 2 visible lines in landscape). why do all the manila files i made not work?

is there anyone willing to manila and cab up my pre-cut wallpapers, ive got about 8 i want to test

Actually there only for portrait. I just installed the landscape theme from this thread, and change the portrait wallpaper with the method I posted. Im sure there is a way to the same thing for landscape, but I dont know of a place that has wallpapers already made up like the spj thread does.

I would love for someone to get ahold of the wallpaper that jnuts posted about and make Cabs for portrait and landscape! That would be great!
