please help!!!

I know this has been covered many times, but the search is frustrating me. I signed up for xda-developers, ppcgeeks, even htcwiki, and all does not help, I am really bad at these kinds of things and really need the step by step instructions. I changed my background and now i cant see the words on the homescreen.. my backgrounds is black and white and i need to change it to like purple or something. I found this http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/235199...ffset=0&t=anon and i got the app but i dont know where to go from that...i've also tried using ultra edit but i didnt know where to start. I tried manila editor too but it wouldnt let me get into it idk why...if anyone can help me that would be great!! Thank you!
