how do you change the shade of the transparent screen?

will this also remove the still image of the contents of the previous tab?

Basically, I have the panoramic background, but I'd like it to only show the icon of the slider, and the wallpaper. If I go from the home tab to the music tab, for instance, you can see the clock as you slide, just grayed out.
