That is the perfect answer. So simple, but I was going down the wrong path on my own. Thanks a bunch. Now I can do some cool personalization and understand what I am doing on color.

battery issue is too bad. maybe it has something to do with the huge modification to the wm system. i do not like the modification, because it will cause stability problems such as system crash and high battery consuming. and it can also cause compatibility issue for common software. it is better keeping the original wm system as much as possible and just putting in necessary driver/tools etc

Installed and ran 1.7. It is getting better and better with every release. Good show, jmart! Still a fast ROM even without overclocking and the home page setup looks great and intuitive! Youtube and plus code dialing was working fine, though I went from 60% to 20% on the battery while installing and playing with the ROM. Am charging it now to see how it lasts with regular usage. :)

Had the following question and request:

1. Would it be possible to place links for all installed programs in the \Windows\Programs folder? This would help add quicklinks for programs like PIM Backup, XDA_US, etc. to the home pages. Currently, I have to find the file in the \Windows folder (not an easy task if you don't know the file name) and create a shortcut and place it in the Start Menu folder.

2. Clicking on .reg files on my storage card does not import the setting to the registry. Is a registry editor program missing? Which program do I need to install? It will be nice to include this capability.

3. What program do you use to turn the data off? I do not have a data plan and use Dialup enabler/disabler to keep the data turned off. Don't know if your toggle switch does the same thing. When I installed Dialup enabler/disabler, it showed the data connection to be on even though the toggle switch in the SimClock page showed it as off. Didn't want to risk not having the data off completely. Please let me know if I should keep Dialup enabler/disabler installed or whether your program will keep the data off unless I turn it back on.

4. When acknowledging alarms, etc. you get a snooze menu with different time settings. Can I edit this list to get snooze times different from those listed (or add to the list, for example, one week, etc.)?

Looking forward to playing with the ROM some more over the weekend!

1. No problem, I will add these shortcuts to Teya [Portal] in the next release
2. There is a "behind the scenes" registry import program included. You can find it in the Windows directory named FS_TaskMgr.exe
3. Data off is controlled by an HTC oem named data disconnect. If you click on the icons in the taskbar, you will get the notification manager. There you will see if you still have an active data connection. You should not need any extra programs to control it.
4. To be honest, I have never looked into adding or changing the defaults. I will check it out and get back to you.

I'm guessing that it automatically reconnects because I even disconnected it using the "wireless controls" and then it reconnected automatically when I updated the weather.
I just can't figure out how to keep it disconnected.

The toggle switch is working, it is disconnecting the data connection. It will however re-enable itself whenever a program needs data. That is the main reason for having it so easily accessible, this allows you to monitor it and shut it off whenever you don't want data.

I wish I could help, but I am with Verizon and don't know how your carrier handles things. Hopefully somebody with the same carrier can help out.

I charged the phone to 100%. Overnight, without any usage, the battery now reads 51% after lying with its screen of for less than 7 hrs. For some reason, the battery drain still exists for me and I am not even overclocking. I only have wireless turned on but it has not been set to stay on when the phone goes to sleep. There is nothing running in the background. :(

I also noticed that if I turn on the "time left to next alarm" display on the SimClock home page, the time left is not accurate. I have 2 hrs 15 mins left for the next alarm but it stated it as 13 hrs left. It displays the time at which the alarm has been set accurately but not the time left.

-Battery usage...definitely not normal
-I have recently noticed this every once in a while too, but it usually fixes itself after a minute or two.

Unbelievably awesome. Battery life seems a bit shorter than 1.6, but way better than my other alternatives. The asthetics are the best and sync works. My only problem was finding the "phone" settings to set to CDMA only. However, they were where they should be with all of the other settings menu items instead of using the send button and them menu.

Phone settings are still accessible through the dialer or "send" button.
-Press "Send"

I haven't had this problem, but I don't play a lot of music. Has anybody had this problem?

PS: Everybody please remember, the first few days of having a new ROM are hell on a battery. There are many factors that go into this, especially setting up your device, playing with it and changing everything to your liking.

I have had great battery life and today I conducted a little test (running Teya 1.7.0 without any additions or changes). My phone has been off the charger for a total of 14.5 hrs, with a decent amount of texting (around 40), a few phone calls, web browsing throughout the day and a lot of CHT home screen tweaking. I am now at 24%, I consider this to be pretty decent battery life for a smart phone.

The changes I implement to the WM sys should/would not make battery life worse. If that were the case, I would never touch it, nor would any other chef. Anything I do to the sys has been tried and proven by many other chefs in the community including myself. The battery drain and stability issues are usually going to be caused by what the chef adds on to the sys (I.E. - Sense 2.5). I hope this makes sense and clears some things up.

Did u "restore" from the portal backup? i have this prob too. Something in the backup/restore does this. i always have this problem. i simply use the CHT editor import/export instead

jmart, I am sure the battery drain must have to do with my setup, since not everyone is having the issue, but I am unable to figure it out. I am going to wait for your 1.8.0 (hopefully SimClock v3 is out by then!) and try it again without installing any additional programs to troubleshoot the issue. I desperately want to use your ROM and believe I am getting closer thru every release! :) Thanks again for all your work and for responding to questions quickly.

To change the softkeys, go into CHTEditor, select Softkeys and click on the corresponding softkey listed. You can change the key assignments of the five softkeys to what you want.

I was using the camera from the TP2, I am going to try and figure out why the pics were off center and hopefully get that one going again. I personally like it better.

If you feel comfortable editing your registry, the keys are:

Code:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila]
HomeLSKPath=Windows\Camera.exe        This is the path to the executable file you want to launch from the left softkey
HomeLSKText=Camera        This is the text that will appear on the left softkey

If not, let me know what you would like and I cab get you a cab.

I did.. I switched to Energy to see if the GPS issue will disappear, it didn't.. So i switched to MR2 upgrade and still the same GPS issue.
GPS now works fine, meaning I get the location properly but the weather location isn't mine. When I get to work which is in a different city, my location changes to the city I'm in. Just the city I live in doesn't seem to take me back on. It's the same city I was visiting three days ago. It's like the city that I live in was taken out of the map lol.

This rom was really nice until I started texting. ;(. The damn thing freezes when u get a heavy load of text messages and mms, and I'm a heavy texter so it freezes every 5 mins after I take out the battery to restart the damn thing. The experimental messaging works so much better besides the fact that I can't receive mms which blows minds. I'm switching back to energy rom until some kind of messaging works for this thing (same reason I didn't use version 1.3 for more than an hour).

I have a basic quick links question. Is there a way that I can make it so that only the bottom middle and bottom right have quick links? I end up not using the bottom left, so I thought I would move my messages (or maybe even putting the mp3 player or emails) there, but even with the quick links hidden, it still covers the pad so that I can only barely interact with the widget. I've tried to mess with a bunch of settings in CHTE, but I can't seem to find it...if it is even possible. Thanks.

bawaji 03-30-2011 08:10 PM

Re: [ROM] Project: Teya 1.7.0 [24-Mar-2011]

There may be a better way to do it using CHTeditor and allowing each page to have different settings. However, if that doesn't work, one option is to do the following
Choose on of the "bottom" pages, Edit Home Layout > Configuration > uncheck the Quicklinks box
Then, use free links instead of quick links in the "bottom right" and "bottom middle" pages. You can then add a widget to the bottom left page.

Hope that works out. It will be tedious setting up the bottom pages using free links but you hopefully have to do it only once. It will however not be easy to edit or swap free links compared to quick links.

Re: [ROM] Project: Teya 1.7.0 [24-Mar-2011]

Yeah, I was really hoping that I wouldn't have to do that. Out of laziness, I would probably just have a blank page instead of having to refill all of my quicklinks. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sonami, how is it set up under the Teya settings? I would probably try messing with those a bit, then setting up the MM button under the "buttons" setting on the regular options.

I'm actually having trouble with router. I've used it successfully on other roms, but now I can't get it to connect for more than a minute or so. I've tried messing with a bunch of settings, but I can't seem to figure out what could be causing it. Anyone have a suggestion?

Another option you can try is to set up individual paged quicklinks.
--CHTE
----Quicklinks
------Independent page count
What this will do is give you the option to have "pages" of quicklinks on a single page (hope that makes sense). Example lower level page three (far right) contains your quicklinks and you can swipe through multiple pages of quicklinks while remaining on page three.

As far as router goes, I assume you are talking wireless router and not internet sharing via usb. Make sure you have "Wi-Fi on sleep" enabled in More Options through Teya [Portal].

Just like Judge said, make sure that your MMS settings have been configured in Teya [Portal]. Also, which messaging client are you using?
As far as rotation, I have messaging setup to auto-rotate (I actually hate it myself, but keep forgetting to change it). I will fix that for the next release.

For now, if you want to stop it from rotating navigate the registry to:

Code:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName]
MessageClient=\Windows\Messaging_Client.exe    -    Delete this entire key

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList]
MessageClient=MESSAGING_CLIENT    -    Delete this entire key
HTCMSGThreadList=HTCMSGThreadList    -    Delete this entire key
HTCMSGThreadDetail=HTCMSGThreadDetail    -    Delete this entire key
HTCMSGDeleteMessages=HTCMSGDeleteMessages    -    Delete this entire key
HTCMSGForwardMessages=HTCMSGForwardMessages    -    Delete this entire key
HTCMSGMultiPage=HTCMSGMultiPage    -    Delete this entire key

Just like Judge said, make sure that your MMS settings have been configured in Teya [Portal]. Also, which messaging client are you using?
As far as rotation, I have messaging setup to auto-rotate (I actually hate it myself, but keep forgetting to change it). I will fix that for the next release.

For now, if you want to stop it from rotating navigate the registry to:

Code:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName]
MessageClient=\Windows\Messaging_Client.exe    -    Delete this entire key

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList]
MessageClient=MESSAGING_CLIENT    -    Delete this entire key
HTCMSGThreadList=HTCMSGThreadList    -    Delete this entire key
HTCMSGThreadDetail=HTCMSGThreadDetail    -    Delete this entire key
HTCMSGDeleteMessages=HTCMSGDeleteMessages    -    Delete this entire key
HTCMSGForwardMessages=HTCMSGForwardMessages    -    Delete this entire key
HTCMSGMultiPage=HTCMSGMultiPage    -    Delete this entire key

mms configuration is set in teya portal (its grayed out so i cant hit configure again to make sure it took).

If it is greyed out than it is set, however it only applies to HTC messaging. You can double check by going to:
--Messaging inbox
----Menu
------Settings
--------Options
----------Menu
------------MMS Server
--------------Verizon
----------------Server address: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms?X-VZW-MDN=Your Number Should Appear Here

Also try a soft reset and test again by sending a pic mess to yourself.

it seems to be set up right, but in the mms server list 'SampleMMSC' is the one that is checked, and i cant change it. not sure if that is normal or not.

Here you go, install to device and soft reset, I haven't tested so please report back.

Install this cab by Mike and soft reset. You will need to go into Teya [Portal] after the reset and re-configure your MMS (just press the configure button)

I had looked at the IPC once before, but I wasn't sure how to get it set up. I'll look at it again tonight.

I finally got the router to work. I had already toggled the "Wi-Fi on sleep", but it still didn't work for some reason. I'm not sure what actually fixed it, since I toggled just about every setting having to do with networking under the "More Options" page.

Thank you for all of your help. I'm definitely loving this rom.
