I asked this question earlier, and maybe no one had seen it. I use 21904. Does 23569 have a built in task manager that when you hit the X button, it closes running programs? Thanks.

Re: Steve's Imagio Manila ROM v1.2

Steve - I got the chance and flashed the new 23569 ROM. It is working great.

1. Shutdown with the long end key is nice.

2. No "Settings" in the start menu. I understand that HTC is forcing you to their settings tab anyways, so that if you go to Start Menu\Settings\ you end up at the Settings Tab. Here is the problem I encountered though; I went to Settings Tab\Menu\All Settings\Home\Items so I could disable Sense and install CHT 1.8. I did that and then it asked me to restart my device. I did that and when my device rebooted I was going to enable Sense - the only problem - there was no "Settings Tab" bc Sense was disabled and there was no Settings shortcut in the Start Menu. I thought I was going to have to do a hard reset but then remembered the Manila.exe was in the Windows directory.

So - I don't know if there is really anything you can do about it (or want to). But I thought I would make you aware in case you hadn't thought about what happens when you disable Sense.

3. The Facebook Tab is working for me. With the last rom I didn't get my updates. Now I am. I don't know if that is bc you incorporated f.i.m. or something else - I am just glad it is working.

4. I voted to "keep it the way you make it" simply bc it already comes pretty bare bones as it is. On my device I have got 228mb of free Storage Memory AFTER installing almost all of my stuff. I mean how much free storage does one need? I have 48mb free program memory (using 72% of program memory) which is not bad.

I have only been using the rom a couple of hours. I will try and give more feedback later. Thanks for all your hard work.

Jmart - thank you for the offer. If you would be willing to see if you could get it to work - that would be awesome. Like I said - I don't have any first hand experience with GTX and .2013 - only a few posts I have read on the thread.

I am using 23569 and I cannot find a built in task manager. Sorry. Hopefully Steve will reply. 21904 does not have the HTC task manager built in? I always use Arkswitch anyways. And I never close programs with the little "x" (of course there is no little "x" in 23569).

Thanks for the reply.
I use Touch X on 21904, but i dont think i can use it on 23569 because isn't there a clock on the top, and those little lines cover it up, and you don't close out up there anyhow. The X is on the bottom on 23569.

Steve, Is it built in to the rom that when you hit the X button at the bottom, it closes open programs?

Re: Steve's Imagio Manila ROM v1.2

HTC Task Manager has caused me the most grief, especially in the 23569 build since the notification enhancement overrides task manager. I would be curious to know if you like the standard black notification enhancement, or if you would prefer the dropdown taskbar app.

I am also uploading another teaser version of v2. This is my personal ROM, and so might not be perfect for your use, but will give you a good idea at things I am cleaning up. The size of the NBH has dropped from 169 meg to 143 meg, thanks in part to getting rid of alot of optional Sense stuff. This will be the basis for cabs to fill out the Sense install.

Jmart,

First off thanks for popping in here. Your work has always been top notch, as I have used alot of it before we had our HSPL. Any advice would be most welcome.

As to 2013 I can now tell you that 2013 will NOT be the last ver of Sense I will be making available. 2015 is here and I will be looking at it in the next couple of days.

Stay tuned,
Steve

Yes sir, that is the word on the street! Have you gotten your hands on Manila 2015? I have quit a few 2015 packages, but not manila...yet!

Nice ROM by the way, I like how you are allowing your users the option and room to customize it the way they like.

Its up there now...use the link in the post about the teaser ROM. Notice how much smaller this ROM is over the last one....yea!

I am going to give you a little teaser ROM that will let you see some of the new enhancements I am planning for v2. Please bear in mind this is just a test ROM, and that any and all could change when v2 is released. This is a 23569 ROM, so I am sorry if I am leaving the 21904 folks out of the fun.

New in this ROM is as follows:

1) 21874 XIP instead of original 21849 XIP. This should help memory mgmt and overall performance.
2) Updated core components to most recent available.
3) Sense 2013.2227 instead of 2012.1225. This updated Sense has allowed me to separate and not build in certain Sense components that no one uses.
4) Updated bells and whistles where applicable.

I would be interested in getting some initial feedback, if you are so inclined to help. The link is as follows:

http://www.4shared.com/file/no9Qdztm/23569_v2_Test.html

I have also put up a poll on the topic of cabs and the functionality that is built into the ROMs. I hope you all will give me your thoughts and vote. Of course if you feel you need to expand on the answer please feel free to PM me with your comments.

Steve

Steve,

Is your V2_test ROm stable? I can only test on weekends. I only have one Imagio and its my lifeline to my business when I am out of the office. it takes me about an hour to flash and re- customize my phone. I am willing to do that on a week night if I know I wont have problems the next day.

I have an issue with the inability to retract the soft keyboard. The keyboard button now shows input options instead of retracting. The OEM VZ Rom had an small arrow next to the button for options and button itself launched and retracted the keyboard. Am I missing something?

Re: Steve's Imagio Manila ROM v1.2

I just made a cursory review of the test_v2 rom. I do need to roll back to the v1.2R2. I need RDP adobeLE and last but not least Office. I also use the RSS Hub on regular basis.

Honestly I could not see any visual or noticeable changes in V2. It was definately lighter but didnt seem faster or more responsive.

I did notice that I was no longer promted for credentials for a data connection on boot. I always just pressed OK and moved on but never undertstood why it was there.

To answer both your questions:

1) Is my new ROM stable? Well that's the whole reason why I call it a teaser ROM. It's the reason why I put out the disclaimer on this "test" ROM.

2) I have noticed that you have to tap it directly and it does retract. I will look into whether I can tune this up.

As to the latest test ROM if any of you downloaded it please remove it, as it has a few items that I am not happy with.

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Steve's Imagio Manila ROM v1.2

I had a chance to test both "test" roms. The first release - with "stuff". and the 2nd release without "stuff". I preferred the first test release as I have to add all that stuff if it is not already there.

Just my opinion - after flashing "test V2b" I flashed back to "test V2a". Besides - there were some strange bugs with "test 2b" - anyone running it should reflash (or flashback lol).

As for the keyboard retracting in 6.5.x I have read multiple times in all of the rom threads people with the same problem. The key to retracting the keyboard is to not press directly on the keyboard button. press a hair below it and a hair to the left. It has nothing to do with Steve's rom (except that is 6.5.x).

Re: Steve's Imagio Manila ROM v1.2

Ok all I have created 2 new v2 test builds if anyone would like to do some new testing with what is current v2. I have created a 21904 and 23569 build that is identical to the current v1.2 builds that are now available.

23569 link is: http://www.4shared.com/file/kjE5pEvF/23569_v2_Test.html

21904 link is: http://www.4shared.com/file/Ws3wr38V/21904_v2_Test.html

I have added the HTC Task Manager to both builds, but due to the use of the HTC Notification Enhancement it will not be available in the upper right corner. I have tested a number of ways to overcome this, and I am not happy with any of them. In thinking more about this I realized the answer was right under my nose, and that is create a program link to the task manager app in Cookie. This gives you instant access to it from your home screen...make sense?

A couple more nuggets of information on what will go into the new v2 build. Due to some major help from Jmart my final v2 will have both 2014 and 2015 components, including Sense. I am very excited to take the next step in the Sense evolution, and look forward to seeing how it operates in comparison to 2012 and 2013. Big kudos to Jmart for being able to take a Korean ROM that had 2015 Sense and convert it to WWE. He saved me the headache of trying to do that and really screwing it up!

Thanks for thinking of us "21904 users Steve" lol. I was waiting for that. Im downloading now and I'll let you know. And thanks for adding the task manager. It helps a lot on the battery.
And I'm glad that you put the settings icon back in that when you tap on it it takes you to the systems screen. Thats a bunch easier than going through the whole menu thing. If you want to go there, you can just scroll on the today items to get to it. Thanks for that!

Menu thing to get to settings? You slide over to Settings/Menu/All Settings. Don't get too used to the Settings icon. It will go away to remain consistent with how HTC is doing it.

I wanted to mention to all that if you could download the v2 version you would use that I am looking to understand if there are many issues with v2 in comparison to an identical v1.2 ROM. I am seeing some things in v2 that has me nervous, and I am trying to figure out why this is.

Alot of cleanup of files and reg is included, as well as many mem tweaks that have helped to make available about 80 meg of RAM after fully operational. There is more to be done in this area!

Believe me when I say this was a tremendous undertaking, but one I am very proud of. Big kudos to Jmart518 for helping me with language conversions, and making available updated packages that have made their way into this build. As always much thanks to all the brains at PPCKitchen. Without them I would be totally lost!

As always these "sneak peek" ROMs are still very much a work in progress. While I do not believe I will be doing anything more with Sense I will be adding a few more ancillary updates, as well as continued cleanup. For those of you that will test I would like to get your feedback on overall look and feel, usage, performance, etc. I am really looking to make this the best it can be right out of the gate.

I will update this notice with new links to the v2 ROMs once they are uploaded. Please keep an eye out for the update.

Re: Steve's Imagio Manila ROM v1.2

Steve - testing the latest test rom. Very awesome. Very fast. I boot at 56% which is the lowest ever using Sense.

One major problem for now. The Wifi router is not working for me. It says "cannot turn on wifi".

In the Comm Manager, if I hit the wifi toggle switch, the wheels start turning, but it does not toggle on.

I don't know if their are some settings that have to be adjusted. But I am no good with that stuff - SSID's, Network Adapters, Add New Connections etc. It always just worked.

So I don't know how to fix it and I will definitely have to roll back if there is not a solution as my phone is my main connection to the web.

***EDIT***

Just reporting a few more things...

1. The option "Internet Sharing" - when you connect your phone via usb does not work for me either. My phone tells me, "Check USB connection".

2. Modem Link does work. So that is cool. It gives me access to the internet for now.

3. I am unable to receive picture messages. Have not tested this extensively. My wife sent me one and I get a message, "Unable to download message". I know that the HTC messaging looks a lot better than Arcsoft, but I prefer the functionality of Arcsoft (I think that is what it is called) to what I have experienced of the HTC messaging client so far. Just my opinion and feed back though.

4. In messaging - the send button is still in Korean?

5. Is there no weather tab? Or am I a complete moron (completely possible)? If having no weather tab contributes to the great increase in speed (the rom is much more responsive and snappy) - then I can live without weather.

Ok - so that was just a few more things I came across today. Hope that is not discouraging. Just trying to share what I have observed. Looking forward to the release of V.2

RDP is not in the start menu. But the wpctsc.exe is in the Windows directory and it appears to be functioning (I never use it so wouldn't know). If you double click the .exe it does open.

Modem Link wasn't in the Start Menu either. So I just created a shortcut in the Start Menu. I am sure you could do the same for RDP.

To tell you the truth, I was running the first test rom over the past weekend, and it was working awesome. I'm not crazy about HTC messaging because it is too small. I use the weather quite often because I ride a motorcycle. And I like having the settings icon under the start button. I went back to the first 21904 test rom. Thanks.

Re: Steve's Imagio Manila ROM v1.2

I have been running the last v1.2 and found it locking up several times a day. I resolved this by using the default Windows lock screen. As sexy as the CHT piano black manila lock was, I think our weak Imagios couldn't handle it.

The remaining issues I have are with the Contacts. Sense people is slow. Hitting the back button will result in a 20 second delay and finally, when addressing an email or txt msg, names don’t resolve. Check names will perform the search and find but this was not necessary with the stock Rom. Any ideas on how to resolve the contact/people issues.

Hello Steve - CHT has been updated to 1.8.5 (I am sure you know). I am hoping for a version 2 of you great rom. Still using latest test version and really enjoy it (except the wifi bug). Looking forward to future releases.

H- I do not use the People tab very often - so I don't even know if I have your problem. Have you ever tried out "icontact"?

I think that it is a great contact manager and I just set it to one of my top quicklinks in CHT (it is also free). just a thought for you.

Re: Steve's Imagio Manila ROM v1.2

All,

An update on how v2 is coming along. It has progressed quite well. All the features of Sense 2015 are operational, and I have updated all base components to either a 2014, 2015, or 2016 level. I will have another test ROM for 23569 and 21905 up this evening, and would ask that you try it and give me your feedback.

Thanks,
Steve

Sounds great - just to reconfirm - the Wifi and Wifi router are working? And will the Weather tab be included? Sorry - I know you said "all the features are operational". But I am not sure if that also meant that they were included.

Also out of curiosity - is CHT included and is it 1.71 or 1.8.5?

thanks Steve - I will be looking for the V2. preview.

Weather tab is included. I have removed the Wifi router, as that was not in the original v1 build and does not affect how VZAM will operate. CHT in the preview is 1.85.

I put these previews up exactly as they are, so maybe some things might not operate as planned. I cannot test each feature, so that is why I look for you folks to help in the testing. Together we can make the best ROM possible. If you cannot test I totally understand!

Steve

Re: Steve's Imagio Manila ROM v1.2

Hey Steve - here is another question for you...

I have been running CHT 1.8.5 since it was released. I finally uninstalled bc it was using all my phones resources (running in the high 80% and even low 90%).

Do you think you could release a rom without CHT (without any version)? I think it is a great mod and I am sure there are times I will revert to using it - but with a .cab I can install and uninstall as I want. The poor Imagio just gets so bogged down when it is running.

thanks for your consideration.
