Well - why have them hidden in there? If you leave them - then I would say make them accessible - but I am in favor of their removal.

I do like the Twitter tab. But honestly- I never use it. I use motweets. So removing the twitter tab would be a non-issue for me. My question is- will removing them lower my available memory? Right now I am using 82% of my program memory (running Wifi, tmail.exe, and manila). It would be great to bring that down.

Just my $.02. You are the captain of the ship. Hopefully some others will chime in.

Feel free to remove them. I dont use them or FB ot Tweeter. I read new using the RSS Hub, browse the web using IE use Bing, Google Maps and Exchange Active Sync, which must work flawlessly. I love the latest ROM. Couple of things I would love to see:

1) A delete button on the manila mail view.
2) MAP with Google or Bing from contacts. (I have seen this in the Full Deck or Drellisdee ROM)
3) Contacts are slow. It takes ages to navigate to the notes field and then a 15 second lock up to get out of Contacts.

Everything else including battery life is great considering that the Imagio is slow device.

PS. I guess VZW Navigator doesnt work on an unlocked machine. Says error finding GPS. I un-installed it. GPS works so well with Bing and Google Maps I dont need it.

Re: Steve's Imagio Manila ROM v1.2

Not related to the above question (as I haven't installed yet but I don't use FB, Twitter, or any e-reader other than Mobipocket) but could someone using Steve's ROM tell me if it hitches / hiccups during audio playback when the screen is off?

I'm using MyCleanImagio with the 2.25.00WVL radio fom the MR1 upgrade and it seems to hitch briefly every 6-10 seconds on playback from any audio once the screen blanks and this is driving me bats.

Prior to installing Steve's ROM (which sounds great), I'd like to know if it hiccups, and if not, what radio are you using. Thanks in advance folks!

p.s. I don't use Twitter or FB or any other social media source so their removal wouldn't trouble me....

Sort of why I asked the initial question. I did not realize they were hidden until I started to look in depth at how Manila is setup. Its then that I realized they were indeed hidden. So in the interest of full disclosure I posted the question.

I am considering breaking off tabs like Twitter, FB, eReader, and Footprints into installable cabs that I will provide. This way if someone wants one of the above they can install them. This is just another way at keeping my ROMs very basic, and then let the users customize based on their tastes.

Steve

I listen to both FM Radio and Music from WMPlayer. I have had no such issue. My only slow point on this ROM is contacts. That may be because I have so many and HTC needs to cross reference with phone logs and emails them every time you navigate around in them.

I may be able to help on the slow contacts issue. I am testing something to see if it speeds things up.

I think that is a great idea. Anther good reason to have a ".cab repository"

It might come down to that...but I am not going to house all cabs. My storage requirements will be huge. I am going to house cabs that I feel are secondary, but play a role in my ROMs basic status.

I hope you understand that when I mentioned a ."cab repository" I was not expecting you to host anything. I simply meant creating a folder on Hotfile where people could go and get some of the basic .cabs.

I knew exactly what you were talking about, but at some point I need to draw a line in the sand. I hope you understand that. If I dont I will be creating ROMs for every taste, and at that point you might as well learn how to use a kitchen...lol!

I always wanted a ROM that allowed me the flexibility to add what I wanted. By cooking in apps that some people dont, or will not use, wastes alot of memory. I am working that philosophy by breaking apart some of the Sense add-ins, so people who dont want Twitter, FB, Docviewer, eReader, and Footprints dont pay the penalty. Those who want it can install a cab that I create that ensures it all works together.

Now with that information you should understand why I will make Sashimi available in the next ROMs. You will have the capability to add your own cabs, exes, regs, etc by using Sashimi. No need to cook it all!

Steve
