I have SPB Backup and use it religiously. But I also knew NOT TO USE
it after a ROM update. I started from a Factory NEW PHONE with the
ROM update done before I did anything.

Thanks for asking.

Battery life for me seems to be MUCH better than the old ROM, running Sense 2.5.2011.

OK...I finally bit the bullet and did the ROM update.

I really did not want to start reinstalling from scratch so I did a bit of research. Seems that Sprite Backup 6.5.5.6 will do a proper ROM UPDATE data migration including e-mails settings, etc. I figured I would backup before with the old ROM. Perform the ROM update then another backup with the fresh ROM installed (just in case). After this I did a complete restore with Sprite.

First one was using MERGE Level 2. DO NOT DO THIS!!! It does not include all your start menu customizations (4 column, 31 choices)

Second one was with a MERGE Level of 1 this worked quite well. The only anomaly was the Getting started link still ran the phone setup. Though all the settings were already there so you can just click straight through to DONE.

All my PIM info including messages, phone log, email and databases are intact and working. Favorites seemed to not transfer (?) though that was easy enough to fix.

All programs seem to be working fine, I am still testing.

As for memory, I seem to be at 62% at startup, up from 58% from the old ROM it seems to hover around 70% with use and time. More on this as I use the phone.

Subjectively, the phone redraws faster and seems more responsive. I have to check to see if the D3Dxxx.dll transferred, though it still looks quite crisp.

I MAY have the "no body text" in the POP mail HTC graphic, but it may clear itself up.

I believe that I have some leftovers and duplicates on the system as teh TODAY choices still show Touchflo....these are likely using memory/storage and will have to be found.

More info as I experiment...

did a master wipe & update last night on my Imagio which eventually will go back for a semi-stuck button. One bonus when installing apps to SD card keeps many preferences (ie. opera 10b3, etc.) intact upon reinstall.

The device seems to be much smoother and is using less RAM.

The original factory ROM booted to 78% RAM use stock w/ TF3D before any mods.

The NEW ROM booted to 55% use, 78.40 free RAM w/ TF3D before any mods

I got it booting to 41% use 107.40 free RAM running Titanium & Home Customizer Weather :)

LOL.

there is no such thing as a "proper rom update data migration".
good luck with the install!

I beg to differ...so far, with very minimal tweaks, I've been using my imagio with all my apps and settings working.

The biggest failure has been the loss of favorites, probably could be fixed and the missing list of installed apps. I will be working on that one tonight.

Sure beats reinstalling EVERYTHING from scratch!

arggg i'm on about day five, and while my old battery lasted me about two days on a full charge, i'm still only getting about 12 hours. i hear this resolves itself eventually, but i'm becoming to be a little less hopeful. could you guys give me a ballpark as of to when you started seeing the improvement in your battery again?

Less than a day for me. What I did was charge the phone until the indicator turned green, then unplugged it for a minute or so and charged it again. I repeated that process until the indicator went green within a couple minutes from plugging it in. Haven't seen anything less than 90% since. I believe this "fixes" the meter so it knows what a full charge really is without a monumental effort, and it won't hurt the battery since it has internal circuitry to deal with it. Modern Li-ion batteries are far less fragile than most people think, but it is true that the "best" charge level for them is ~80%, not 100%.

new rom also available on PCD Phones Site

1 Attachment(s)
Everyone, the official ROM is hosted on PCD Phones website as well, right along with the other Verizon Wireless devices. For those of you that don't want to go the route of the manually flashing you can just download, read the instructions and run the file from your PC. One of the Mods may want to post this info somewhere in the beginning.

http://www.pcdphones.com/view_phone_...bID=136&sAct=0

The readme file only lists one performance update and that's to the Mobile TV client.

Mine personally has been great from day 1 after using the new ROM.
