Re: New ROM VZW 3.04 Shipped

Great ROM! The first thing I've noticed is the performance since the amount of Memory used is much lower than the previous image! With the default settings on startup it used to be at 80+% off the bat but now is about 70% or lower! GPS was having issues before for me as well with locks taking forever and only getting about 3-4 satellites at first... new ROM grabs 8+ immediately. (I had Quick GPS up to date and Location on for both)

Thanks again!

You can put Sense 2.5 on your existing setup however it is recommended to hard reset to avoid any conflicts.

Here is the thread on Sense 2.5: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=108707

So if you are going to hard reset anyway, you might aw well load the newer rom from this thread first.

Thank you. But I have already flashed the new rom to my phone a few days ago. I was just wondering if it would run better with sence 2.5 installed. Its running pretty good right now. Memory runs from about 58 to 64. And the battery will last a couple of days. I don't want to fix it if it ain't broke. lol. I finally got it to where it won't connect to the data connection after a soft reset. Not sure how i did that. That was very annoying.

Installed on my and HAPPY so far. Fixed many issues like:
Battery drained fast. No longer the case. I can't believe that something like rom can change battery life.:headbang:
Bluetooth (BT) freezing issue in BMW X5 2009. No longer an issue.:headbang:
Seems a little faster but can't really tell. Its just a human perception without any clocking tools.

When upgrading from an older ROM, you should only restore PIM data (Contacts, email, ect). A full back up has registry entries and other things that will mess with the upgrade.

Yep I concur. :protest: Only PIM to be restored. Do not touch other stuff. Basically do a custom backup on your sprite. That's what i did when upped my ROM

I have to agree with the concensus here . . . this rom ROCKS! :headbang:

One of the bigest things for me is that A2DP starts automatically now. When I get into my car and start one of my Podcasts, it imediately plays through the car stereo; I don't have to go ino the BT settings and start it!

The memory leaks seem to have been fixed for the most part - it starts at 52% after a restart and only creeps up a bit from there. I also see far moe 3G coverage than with the old ROM.

I can't say that I have noticed any battery improvement though.

If you haven't updated yet . . . what are you waiting for? :???:

Re: New ROM VZW 3.04 Shipped

I have been using the new ROM for a week now. I did have a problem with battery drain over the first 24 hours and then things settled out and battery performance has been comparable to the initial ROM.

Memory usage is better. still an issue for me, but significantly better.

I did have a problem yesterday where my phone would not wake up. No reaction from pressing any button. When I pulled the stylus the buttons lit up but the phone did not wake up. I had to remove the battery to restart the phone. On the ship ROM I had this problem and I suspected it was due to low memory. Not sure now though. My memory will climb to 70% used or greater, cleanram will get me back to somewhere in the mid 60%.

Overall its worth the upgrade. Far better than where I was last week.

Looks like this ROM is officially out on PCDPhones (Verizon's Outsourced WM Support Site). http://www.pcdphones.com/phone_downl...zon%20Wireless

The doc in the download says:

The upgrade performs the following improvements:
1) Improvements to Mobile TV client experience.

But as many others have seen, there is a lot of bug fixes that improve the device itself.

It's on VZW's site yet, but they usually have more info on the fixes when they post it.

THe ROM on pdc phones is 15 MBs larger than the Rom on conflippers thread.
I wonder what else the ROM on PDC PHONE contains that conflippers dosn't have. Guess I will have to flash it to find out.

Please let us know... if there is anything significant, I'll give it a shot otherwise I'm running nice and stable with this rom and most of the tweaks from the tweaks thread.
