refreshing the today screen more frequently

Is there a way to refresh the today screen more frequently. Currently I'll hear the sound that a message has arrived, but the messaging plugin on the today screen lags in registering a message has been received. I turned off the messaging center's ability to pop up the notification, does that have something to do with it?

Have you ever tried CleanRam?
I would highly recommend it.
I have it and use it on my Vogue all the time to clean up after things and it helps a lot when stuff gets laggy and unresponsive. Also helps with gps problems too.

I found a tool called todayscreen refresh that sort of solves the problem by letting me refresh the screen on a button press. What I would really like to know is if there is a way to script it so the today screen refreshes when i receive a message, instead of having to do it manually.
