Can't ever get a GPS signal.

I can't get a GPS lock in Google Maps. I followed the "official" upgrade path form HTC last year before I found this forum.

I've abused the search function here and it appears that installing the wm6.1 rom off the HTC site magically enables GPS in wm6.1. Is this correct? Cofirm/deny

If not, what is my upgrade path? A clear path is not available for a user that has the wm6.1 rom installed and 'let the customizations run' in the past.

Thank you,
-Jonathan

i was just like you, what i wound up doing was upgrading to NFSFAN's v12 6.5 rom, and miraculously my gps WORKED!! now, im not saying go and flash to 6.5, but if you really want gps to work, you can go ahead and try, it really did unlock it for me!

Re: Can't ever get a GPS signal.

Make sure on ur external gps settings that, on programs tab, It should be com 4 and hardware tab is none. access tab is checked. It may take a little longer to have a gps lock on the 1st time. after that u'll be fine. Put the gps setting on google maps to auto detect or windows intermediate driver. I'm assuming ur on sprint. Prolly will work on verizon too.

If I knew what carrier you were on that would help but I am betting that you are not on VZW. As think link to the WM6.1 upgrade has been removed. If you are still running WM6 then it is OK to upgrade to WM6.1. Just be sure not to let the customizations run by doing a soft reset before they start.

Your GPS may or may not somewhat function at this point. Download the Holux GPS Viewer & test your GPS. If you are getting some kind of saalite activity you should be good.

Then unlock your phone with 2.31.

Next you can download NFSFAN's ROM & you should be good to go.

In the event that you have already flashed to Wm6.1 & let the customizations run you will have to follow the WIKI from PPCHAVEN.com
