Anyway To Improve Reception?

I've always had 2 bars at home on my Sprint Touch.

Lately, however, it's been dropping to 1 or none.

Anything on the phone user adjustable to increase reception?

Any reasonable alternatives to improve reception?

Re: Anyway To Improve Reception?

You can try upgrading your radio. After switching to the 3.42.30 radio my signal seems to be a bit better. Could also be your location.

+1

Switching to another radio may give you better reception.

Re: Anyway To Improve Reception?

Another vote for switching the radio. Made a world of difference for me.

Re: Anyway To Improve Reception?

I have sprint and I had 3.42.30 and switched to 3.42.50 and I didn't notice a difference. When I have bad reception I place my phone on roam only.

Thanks for the replies but I have no clue how to switch a radio.

I can however, turn on a radio.

Flash your carrier's newest stock rom to upgrade your radio.

Re: Anyway To Improve Reception?

jimt29,

It's a pretty steep learning curve if you ask me. In my case I read through different threads for a total of about 6 hours to make sure I had the correct rom for my phone/carrier and was using the proper unlocker. You don't want to brick your phone.

In the end it is well worth it to replace your rom/radio. Like I said earlier I was dropping about every 5th call at my work and now I never drop any. It all got better when I upgraded the rom/radio in my phone.

Re: Anyway To Improve Reception?

Went to Sprint service. They determined I needed another phone. This one failed it's test.

So whenever I get the call, I will get a replacement Touch.

I don't ever think I will flash/replace the radio. I'll let Sprint do it.

same. I keep the current radio my service provider has,
that way if I have to flash back to stock to take it
to the store I don't have problems with the radio downgrading.

It's just easier for me and I have no problems with my current radio,
so there's no need for me to upgrade.
