Asurion now replacing the Touch for the Diamond
 

So I have been checking the Asurion site for the past week or so, to see what they will replace my Touch with. Up until now, it kept saying it would just replace it with another Touch. So I go to look this morning, and it says 'remanufactured Touch Diamond'!

The problem now is, do I really want the Diamond? I haven't really ever used one.. Although I do want to get my Touch replaced before the new insurance deductible kicks in.

This part of the post should probably go in the comparisons, but what do you guys think about trading out for the Diamond??

Yeah where exactly do you go to on the Assurion website to see this? I just had my HTC Touch replaced via Assurion last week and they definetely sent me a brand new in original box HTC Touch. Just kind of curious where to get this information incase it happens in the future.

I have been having alot of problems with mine also. i just got off the phone with sprint and assurion and the are still sending out regular touches. the lady i spoke to said they will not be upgrading people to the diamond for a while.

The D-Pad just died on mine this week, I could probably get sprint to replace it with another touch for free, but for $50 the diamond might be nice.

That's where I filed the claim at. After you enter in all of your phone information, it will tell you what phone they will be sending as a replacement. You can still cancel at that point if you just want to see what they will offer.

My touch had the usb connector go out... I didn't want to pay the 50$ to deal with asurion so I took it to sprint... they will have a replacement for me by monday I guess.. I have no idea what they are replacing it with but I'll post monday.

I think the upgrade to Diamond would be great if the Diamond had the use of a sd card.

Does anybody know if the Asurion stock and the Sprint repair stock are the same? Or do they each pull from their own reserves?

I'm not sure but according to the Self replacement tool.

Here is the message I got on the Asurion site, too bad I like the Touch better all around IMO

You dont know if you want a Diamond? WHAT? why??? They are definitely better then the Touch.. Dont get my wrong I love the Touch but... Why is that even a
question? lol

Why dont you go through Sprint or whatever carrier you have to get a replacement?

personally I don't think the diamond is that big of an upgrade. the wifi, and G sensor is cool, but the trade off is fixed storage space. i'll probably still switch it out before the price jump, but i'm in no hurry.

I think I'll keep my touch until they'll replace it with the Diamond 2. ;-) Why go for the same screen size?

I agree with you Musicman, not sure what part of the RGV your from, but Browtown representin. Ive had the OG touch and that bad boy is GTG. Especially with WDM's rom. I just added the 16 Gig card too. So to got to the Diamond and downgrade to 4gigs would be a bad deal. Like you said same screen size and almost same Size. Plus i like the black with chrome of the touch with my mirror screen protector.

Exactly what insurance price jump are we talking about here? Are they uping our deductables (sp)? When exactly is this supposed to happen? I just went to the site, and it said I would get my Vogue's replaced with a Diamond. Kinda cool, since I actually have 2 working Vogue's, one for backup. Now I can take the worse-for-wear one, that I'm currently using, and replace it with a Diamond.

Hey, Yeah i just spoke with a lady from asurion about getting my phone replaced, and she said it would be replaced with another htc touch...My touch is having issues with usb and touchscreen sensitivity, but i would rather see about getting a diamond instead of paying $95 for the phone that i already have.

Been having a problem with the USB on my Touch(Sprint) went on the Asurion website to make claim. phone is usable just annoying at this point but will only get worse so figured if they will replace it now for $50 better then paying $100 later. They are sending me a refurb Diamond. I canceled once, since I have 3 batteries for Touch, a case etc but USB was acting up again (don't charge, or stay connected) I did it hopefully have early next week.

When I try to select the vogue on the alltel version of the claim site it only gives the 6950 as an option to select from. What am I missing

Does anyone know what insurance Alltel uses? I don't remember ever seeing anything about assurion. Onea my freinds said they lost their touch and went into Alltel and got a diamond

It all depends on stock. If they have a Touch in stock, that's what you'll get. If not, then they move to the Diamond. And by others sending in their Touches they are increasing their stock. :-D

My touch has giving me charge issues at the usb port. Made a claim online
and says I have to call.

Asurion and the Service & Repair centers use the same warehouse, I've verified this with both our SAR and Asurion. :) They're also sending Touch Pros for Moguls for now... Also, when a ticket is created in E-Ticket, before the tech clicks on "Create Ticket", he/she can click "exchange availability" (or sumtin like that) in the top right corner in E-Ticket, and see what they are sending...(this is for the service & repair centers...)

Thanks for the reply.. they should have my replacement phone tomorrow and I didn't ask what they were replacing it with at the time of inspection. I'll be happy with a phone that works whether it be the diamond or another touch... But I must admit I'd like a new model to play with!

Ok so I just got back from Sprint store and they gave me a brand new in box touch. I am really happy it isn't a refurb but just a little sad I didn't get a new gadget to play with.

looks like they are back to giving out the 6900. I should have gone ahead and replaced mine when I had the chance for a diamond. Now I have a semi functional phone and kind of want to wait to see if more diamonds show up for replacements. Meh.

I wouldn't want a Diamond. Too fat for not having a keyboard. The Vogue is a very beautiful device to me.

I'm not sure exactly what your wording here means...but a Diamond totally has a slide out keyboard. However... I stand with those that enjoy their Vogue, as I have no desire to own a Diamond. I don't want the keyboard, nor do I want the phone that is taller, and thicker then the one I have. I enjoy my Touch and wouldn't want to replace it with a Touch Pro at all...
