Touch Audio and Home Theater System

I just recently got a new Onkyo home theater system (HT-S5100) that included an iPod dock that allows you to listen to your iPod through the home theater system. In fact, by connecting your iPod to the receiver you can operate the iPod with the home theater remote. If you own an iPod and have a lot of music on it, I don't have to tell you how convenient this is.

Does anybody know of a way that I might be able to use my Touch in place of an iPod in this situation?

Well if you have a usb port on this system it mat be possible...But the dock itself will not support your device...

Using bluetooth or a mini usb to 3.5mm jack and then using a male-male cable for audio output. There is no really 'clean' way to do it.

Sprint sells a Bluetooth adapter for any Ipod accessory. I bought two at a price of $10 a piece! Works great. Plug the adapter into the Ipod dock and the phone sees it as a bluetooth stereo headset.

Link to it on Sprint's website

This sounds great! I had just found this in my initial search but I like your option much better.

Okay, so I got this Sprint (Anycom) FIPO adaptor today, however, I am not getting any sound! I know my phone is paired with the FIPO 'cause I am able to control Windows Media on my phone with my Onkyo remote. When I look at the profile being used on the phone it says 'Wireless Stereo'. Is that the same as A2DP? Both the Touch AND the FIPO are A2DP capable so why no sound? Anybody got any ideas?

Sorry, my setup was pretty plug and play. Other than turning up the volume, I didn't have to do much.

Well the problem can only be with 1 of 3 items; FIPO, Touch or my stereo system. This is a real bummer! I was expecting that I wouldn't be able to control Windows Media with my remote but still be able to listen to my music. Not the other way around!
Hmm, I am going to have to ponder this over a beverage and will have to post updates as I go through the three potential problem areas.

Manchild, this was a good find and I thnak you for passing it on.

Thanks. I hope you are able to get it working. Let us know if you do.

You have to be careful when buying those adapters. The Motorola ones are not compatible with HTC devices. HTC devices use ExtUSB.

But this FIPO sounds interesting. I'm gonna have to check that out.
