Touch Audio and Home Theater System
I just recently got a new Onkyo home theater system (HT-S5100) that included an iPod dock that allows you to listen to your iPod through the home theater system. In fact, by connecting your iPod to the receiver you can operate the iPod with the home theater remote. If you own an iPod and have a lot of music on it, I don't have to tell you how convenient this is.
Does anybody know of a way that I might be able to use my Touch in place of an iPod in this situation? gottago Sprint Touch w/ WM 6.1 |
Re: Touch Audio and Home Theater System
Well if you have a usb port on this system it mat be possible...But the dock itself will not support your device...

Re: Touch Audio and Home Theater System
Using bluetooth or a mini usb to 3.5mm jack and then using a male-male cable for audio output. There is no really 'clean' way to do it.

Re: Touch Audio and Home Theater System
Sprint sells a Bluetooth adapter for any Ipod accessory. I bought two at a price of $10 a piece! Works great. Plug the adapter into the Ipod dock and the phone sees it as a bluetooth stereo headset.
Link to it on Sprint's website |

Sorry, my setup was pretty plug and play. Other than turning up the volume, I didn't have to do much.

Re: Touch Audio and Home Theater System
Well the problem can only be with 1 of 3 items; FIPO, Touch or my stereo system. This is a real bummer! I was expecting that I wouldn't be able to control Windows Media with my remote but still be able to listen to my music. Not the other way around!
Hmm, I am going to have to ponder this over a beverage and will have to post updates as I go through the three potential problem areas. Manchild, this was a good find and I thnak you for passing it on. |

But this FIPO sounds interesting. I'm gonna have to check that out. |
Re: Touch Audio and Home Theater System
Wow, that is the cheapest bluetooth receiver I have ever seen. $10 bucks I will give it a shot!!:headbang: , and i have looked. Never thought to look on the sprint site as I am a VZW user. I currently use a monster cable RCA/3.5 adapter with the stock usb splitter, and leave my selection to shuffle.

Re: Touch Audio and Home Theater System
I finally got a US number for technical support at Anycom and spent at least 45 minutes trying to get them to understand what I was trying to do. While they were pleasant enough, I was/am a little concerned that they understood. He could only offer that if my dock was not A2DP capable then I would not hear any sound through my receiver. I suggested that isn't that what the FIPO is, an A2DP receiver that converts an A2DP signal to an ipod connector? After much back and forth, he took my info and said he would forward to 2nd level tech support.
I think if others with the same issue were to call or email they may be motivated to respond more quickly than to one call. Here is their US contact info: For US and Asia: ANYCOM Technologies Inc. PO Box 10127, Newport Beach CA 92658, USA www.anycom.com – E-Mail: US@anycom.com Support: 866-553-9426 – Fax: (949) 209-2611 gottago |

Re: Touch Audio and Home Theater System
So it seems that your ipod dock specs are the same as the specs on my Onkyo S5100 with the exception of 3rd generation compatibility.
Separately, I took my FIPO with me to BJ's warehouse and plugged it into an iHome clock radio unit with an ipod dock and sure enough it worked and worked very well. So, there must be some design or technical reason why the FIPO is not talking to the home theater docks. Hopefully I will hear something soon. gottago |
