Damnit! I was hoping MyPhone would at least keep them threaded...

why do you think its ROM/base-dependent?

Re: Restore / View text messages on pc

are you guys getting it rethreaded properly with PIM backup? if not. it IS possible...

just do a normal backup- compressed, binary, etc.

when you go to restore your msgs. first change the text messages to classic via settings.

soft reset.

restore your messages. (I usually open the text messaging folder just to make sure everything's gravy)

change text messages back to threaded via settings.

soft reset.

go back in your text folder and let it sort itself out. there you have it. sometimes you'll need to go to ur sent messages folder and just click on one message. (not sure why)...
but it works.

Re: Restore / View text messages on pc

Some ROMs that works, others it doesn't. Sometimes I have restore my messages several times before they will re-thread.

I just wish it didn't take 2 hours to re-thread, after it already took 4-5 hours to restore them in the first place.

I think threaded messaging on these phones is only useful for the last 10 messages or so. Unlike PocketCM that shows them all on the screen. If WM won't re-thread them all, no sweat, I can always switch to classic view and find what I need. At least I know I HAVE the message.

I still have about another 13,000 messages to load in with PIMBackup, but sometimes my phone just freezes when it tries to restore the messages... I just wish there was an update to make this faster.

I'm not kidding when I say MyPhone restored them in 5 minutes or so... I just installed the application, canceled the initial sync, disabled everything but text, and re-synced. 5 minutes tops for 4,000 messages... That seriously would have taken nearly 4-5 hours with PIMBackup.

Re: Restore / View text messages on pc

How'd you get MyPhone to work with texts? My texts upload soooo slowly, probably at like 1 every couple of seconds. At 4000+ texts thats like hours! Plus it also fails after like 2500 texts and starts to upload the same texts over and over again, giving me a bunch of duplicate texts on the myphone website.

MyPhone is terrible about duplicates. For that reason alone, I stopped using it.

On my 6.1 ROMs, MyPhone was VERY quick with backup/restore procedures. All I can say is that maybe it's your ROM, or that the servers have been overloaded since the time I used them.

Give Dashwire the ability to restore, and you have instantly the best mobile application for any phone, (assuming it would work on many devices.)
