Re: Data block disables GPS

yes just don't let the customizations run, as soon as the window pops up soft reset then flash to a vogue ROM of your choice.

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=53561&page=2 obviously if you have already upgraded the radio no need to do it again. but if you haven't I strongly suggest you do but find a program to backup all of your data because you will be flashing your phone. like I said this is the exact way I did my phone it may or may not work for you use at your own risk.

jtuite,

I am really considering this to get my gps working. Will it work with the lastest verizon rom upgrading to Windows 6.1 or would you recommend using OMJ's custom rom? I really like how my phone is working now so if doing this give me the same functions with the addition of the gps I may just do it. The instructions here (www.atwistedweb.com/xv6900/index.html) seems to be a very good and easy to follow.

Re: Data block disables GPS

you can use the official verizon ROM and get gps working but I would reccomend using a custom ROM as they don't have all the carrier junk in it. if you flashed to the verizon ROM I think all you need is the coke unlocker 2.31
ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/ImCoKeMaN and followed these directions http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...VerizonAGPSFix
but I used 172.25.8.100 for the sever IP instead of verizons (in the registry and in qpst) I had to add this in my registry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS]
"EnablePDEIPFromNV"=dword:00000001
and I changed the GPSMode to 4. you can use 1-2 or 4 but I found that 4 had a faster lock.
and I changed ServerIP in the registry to the one above I didn't use any cab file to change the registry I found it easier
to go in and change it myself. you can experiment with these setting until you the the desired results

I downloaded and installed lllboredlll_VZW_GPS_Fix_v2 cab and had to go into windows and run ppst.exe and followed the directions. then I downloaded GPStoggle which is a nice today plugin that you can turn your GPS on or off for the programs that cant prime like Igo8. after this you might or might not have to call verizon so they can authenticate your phone just tell them you had to hard reset.
go here to get the 2 above programs

Re: Data block disables GPS

Will the phone activate if you just stick with the bell rom? Or do you have to load another rom or do anything else special?

Thanks

Re: Data block disables GPS

If you are with Verizon then under no circumstances should you allow the customizations to run or should you leave the bell ROM on your phone...I would take it if you going this far that you are completely unlocked and that you are ready to chose a custom ROM to run....Because thats the best choice!!!

Re: Data block disables GPS

Thanks for everyones' help I got it working with the bell radio and OMJ's 3.09. Although I might switch to a different rom. This one feels kinda sluggish, esp the audio manager. And I can't get it to recognize foreign fonts like before either.

That's not entierly true. I have explained this in other threads before. aGPS is al that requires a data connection. Standalone GPS works with no Internet connection. So in short, you don't have to have a Data connection...

This is true, \HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\GPSMode = 0 turns off aGPS (or Valhalla reg keys alternatively) and lets you run in standalone mode (see wiki for GPSone chip here).

You need to be careful though becuase there are a bunch of programs that may try to query the web for settings (i.e. QuickGPS, GPS toggle, Google maps, etc) so you need to know that your program isn't trying to access. A quick test would be to change #777 to #222 or something funny and see if it gives you the bubble that states that it "cannot connect for some unknown reason". Do your experimentation a few days before the end of your bill cycle so you can see what your data usage is (or dial #DATA or whatever that verizon code is and check the balance before and after testing).
