is there a way to rotate the screen 180 so when the cable is plugged in it's not in the way?

Quickmenu (freeware) will do it in two steps (left - left or right - right)

AEButton Plus (shareware) will let you map to any hardware button and do it one step.

start/settings/personal/buttons .. I remapped the camera key to rotate the screen,.
