Calendar Alternative

Hey everyone,

I installed to the new leaked verizon rom, and after a lot of tinkering finally got it to work. But somehow it managed to screw up outlook on my computer, which I use for all my calendar appointments. I decided I'd uninstall and reinstall it, however, during the reinstall my computer crashed, and now I can't get it to reinstall no matter what. So I'm looking for a calendar substitute of outlook.

I did come across thunderbird with the lightning add-on, but to get it to sync I'd need to get BirdieSync, which costs about $27. As a college student I really can't afford that.

Does anyone know of any calendar substitutes that I could, preferably, use through activesync, that would be free? I've spent all day trying to resolve this issue, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Re: Calendar Alternative

Not really an outlook alternative as far as saving data on your computer, but funambol has over the air sync of contacts and calendar.

Re: Calendar Alternative

Unfortunately, I don't have a data package on my line.. (I know this is pretty silly considering the phone, but I can't really afford it at this time). Would this use a data connection? I'm assuming yes because it's ota?

Re: Calendar Alternative

Yes, it uses data.

Were you using Oulook or Outlook Express? Did you uninstall before trying to reinstall?

Re: Calendar Alternative

I was using outlook. I did uninstall, but then during the reinstall my computer crashed. I've tried every fix I could find to get it to work, including wiping out all the registry keys, msi's, and whatnot, but had no success..

Re: Calendar Alternative

Google Calendar is the best calendar ever, I really don't understand how people can get by using Outlook alone, even with a winmo device to sync to. Having the web interface is just too valuable.

Anyhoo... I recommend Google Calendar and OggSync. Now, if you dont have data, you will only be able to sync when your device is connected to the internet with Activesync, but thats the same thing you have to put up with on Outlook.

Wow! Thank you so much, I don't know why I didn't think of that! This is exactly what I needed.

Is there any easy way to clear the appointments I already have on my phone? When I sync'd with oggsync, it created doubles of everything! So I figured if I could clear what was already on my phone, and then sync'd with oggsync I'd be all set..
