Tried to unlock xv6900 plZ help

I just got my new phone and I wanted to get the GPS on it. I followed instructions on how to unlock it and when I got to the GPS thing it said "at you own risk" "only use if instructions are followed exactly". So I'm freaked out because I don't want to go further and I regret ever doing anything. I used the cokeman unlocker stuff. I think I messed it up. When the phone idles off I can't use the power button to power it back on. I have to use the reset every time. Is there a way to undo everything. How can I go back to stock SPL? I'm a girl and I thinks went way over my head doing this stuff. Plz plz help. Help I'm new to all this.
P.S when I check the rainbow screen it says SPL-2.31.coke CPLD-3

If you got to the 2.31.coke screen your fine. You'll want to flash your radio first, which you can get here http://dcd1182.n715dp.com/index.php?...ue%2Fradios%2F then flash a rom and you should be all set.

Re: Tried to unlock xv6900 plZ help

Thanks so much for the reply. I will do that. But is there a way to just undo everything? I found that there is an official upgrade and would like to do it that way instead. If I return it to verizon and say it's not working will they be able to know I tried to hack it and refuse to take it??

I'd suggest not using the official rom; VZW has the gps locked down and to get gps you'll have to do a bunch of hacks anyway. As others have said, your phone is now unlocked. Welcome to ppcgeeks! Just take some deep breathes; you really are fine and it's pretty hard to really screw your phone up. You can flash the radio (it needs to be 3.+ for gps) without using a storage card. I've used both 3.42.50 (alltel) and 3.5+ (sprint). Not sure there's much of a difference. You can get the gps roms (in order to get the radio) from http://www.htc.com/us/support.aspx. The alltel upgrade is at http://www.htc.com/us/supportdownloa...act=sd&cat=all and the sprint upgrade is at http://www.htc.com/us/supportdownloa...act=sd&cat=all. Once you decide which one to use, follow directions to flash your phone. You'll hook it up to the computer like you did to unlock it. After flashing it will restart. DO NOT LET CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN. That means once you have gone through the set up and a message appears on the screen that "CUSTOMIZATIONS WILL BEGIN IN 3 SECONDS," you need to reset your phone BEFORE the customizations begin. Sounds scary but it's not tough. As soon as you see that box saying customizations will start in three seconds, soft reset using the stylus. Once you have completed resetting your phone it is now using the newest GPS radio. Choose a custom rom or build your own using the PPCKitchen. If you need more help, ask. Reread the instructions to make sure you understand them. The important thing is to not let the other carrier's customizations run. If this almost forty-seven year old woman can do it, I don't know why you can't.

Re: Tried to unlock xv6900 plZ help

Thanks

Where / what thread should I start to go through the process of being a complete nuub / " ID 10 T" to a level where I could start to understand what's being posted. I'd rather not brick my XV6900 and I'm hoping to be able to use the GPS capablility. I'm presently sitting at windoz mobile 6.1 and I'm using verizon. I don't know what my phone is called here (it looks like it would be a vogue)

Re: Tried to unlock xv6900 plZ help

the 3.42.50 is the radio. when you click on that link you want to chose the vogue directory, then the radios directory, then the vogue radio rom 3.42.50.
It not as big of a deal as you might think. You can do it.
