im having an argument at work with co worker is verizon gsm or cdma not sure

Verizon is CDMA all networks without sim cards are...

Verizon offers several phones that they call "global ready". These phone have both cdma and gsm and they have a sim card slot. So, that's probably where the confusion is coming from. They pull out their battery and and see a sim card slot and think it's gsm.

Verizon, Alltel and Sprint are CDMA while AT&T and TMobile are GSM. Razorloves is on the right track; Verizon says that they will support any phone that works on their network, and since some phones are dual-band (meaning they will work on both GSM and CDMA networks) this is where the confusion may be.

AMPS and TDMA don't use SIM cards.
