Which M2D ROM to choose?

Looking to update to a M2D ROM but can't decide between WDM v1.6 or OMJ v.3. What are the pros and cons for each?

Thanks.

Re: Which M2D ROM to choose?

I haven tried wdm's but I just flashed to OMJ v3.0.9 a couple days ago, its very fasy and slick, so many apps and programs on it, while conserving massive amount of memory... i think there was more storage memory on it than stock, w/ waaay more apps (both useful and fun)... and program memory at startup is very low considering its fully loaded with M2d... program memory is at about 35 to 4 percent... which is way less than if you installed m2d manually... not to mention m2d is fully functional.... no glitches, i really haven had to soft reset or anything since... there are some thing you need to keep in mind, before installing,(like installing dcd carrier cab if your on sprint) but most issues are already solved/addressed in the omj thread... so overall, my vote goes to OMJ...freakin sweet rom... gota luv it!

Re: Which M2D ROM to choose?

I would have to recommend WDM's Diamond ROM. I've been using it since version 1 and have had few to no problems with it that I didn't cause my self. And I have to say that I only soft reset every few days, usually after I've added or removed something. That whole concept is quite foreign, I know, but it's true. His is without a doubt one of the best ROM's I've ever used.

Re: Which M2D ROM to choose?

I just tried out OMJ and WDM (Clean versions). I prefer the OMJ rom over the WDM rom.

OMJ Pros:
- Has HTC Youtube application!
- Clean with no annoying credits. For example, there is no XDA Developers link in the Internet tab or the device is not renamed to the authors name.

OMJ Cons:
- The start menu bar is the original gradient. Will look nicer if you install the iblackbar theme to make the menu bar a solid black.
- Keyboard is the default HTC Touch keyboard. Install the HTC Diamond keyboard. It memorizes if you're in XT9 or ABC mode and isn't buggy when you type fast.

WDM Pros
- Looks nice out of the box. Includes a solid black taskbar.
-

WDM Cons
- Windows Messenger is missing in the clean version. Could not find a way to install it. Should be already included with the phone.
- Keyboard buggy when typing fast. Caps lock also doesn't seem to work. Install HTC DIamond keyboard instead.
- Have to rename the device from "whodaman" to your own. Not that big of a deal but I feel it is better for the author to not put his credits on the phone like that.
- XDA Developers link on the Internet tab. Need to edit registry to remove. I don't think the rom author put that link there but again, not a good way for authors to put their credit.

Re: Which M2D ROM to choose?

I've tried most of the M2D roms out there and after finding pros and cons with all of them, I have settled on a really nice 20931 rom I built myself using PPC Kitchen. I really reccomend going that way because it seems every chef has either added programs that they like, but I don't or leave out progams I like. I know you can add cabs after, but I like to have it all there when I load the rom. Using the kitchen may take 5 attempts or so to find a good mix but the payoff seems to be the best.

You just have to really try these things yourself and get a idea of what you prefer and like...

Re: Which M2D ROM to choose?

WDM v1.6 CLEAN is what I'm using. IT IS GREAT. Very stable and has awsome GPS tools. It works great. Wish it had Vibrating Key Pad but its great other than that. I like to install my own software. WMD has a Fat ROM and a Clean ROM. The Fat has a lot of great software but I like the Clean.

...and that looks like a sufficient number of responses. Closed before it gets ugly in here.
