Alltel Touch/WM6.1/correct settings/No GPS

I upgraded my touch to the official Alltel WM 6.1 ROM last week. Since then I have tried to enable GPS. I have been searching multiple forums for the past week and have tried multiple fixes and still have no GPS. My location settings are turned on. My GPS settings are com4/none/4800/manage auto.
I have tried it with both google maps and windows live search. In google maps it says initializing and then times out and says no GPS receiver detected.
I know this is talked to death in the threads (I think I have read them all this past week), but I have found nothing to get me any closer than I was before the updgrade.

FYI my device info is as follows
ROM version: 3.04.671.2
ROM Date: 4/9/08
Radio version: 3.37.10

the official rom lacks GPS files probably. Why not just use a custom rom with GPS. I love conflipper's

The biggest reason is everything is still under warranty. The second reason is, I have everything set up with all my third party apps, etc, and don't want to have to go back and re-install everything again, hoping it all works with the new ROM. I have everything working just like I want it except GPS.
I have also read in other posts that alltel users flashed the new ROM and everything "magically" started working. Any other ideas?

I have the HTC 6800 from Alltel. I did the 6.1 upgrade and mine works fine.

Just make sure in your GPS settings that you allow Windows to manage your com port and not manually.

Not to be insulting but go back to your phone setting\services\location setting\ is set to "On" and make sure in Google Maps you have to go into the settings and select the correct options. [Options\GPS Settings\Managed by Windows

After that I dont know what to tell you but possibly a hard reset.

Thanks. I think pretty much everyone with the 6800 got GPS. However the 6900(touch, vogue) is the one with problems. My settings on the phone and the apps are correct.
Anyone out there with the alltel touch with the same device info numbers as I originally posted who has gps working?

There's a newer radio out there, 3.42.XX.

To get the really fast locks, you'll need to do the Shadow-tech fixes and you'll get consistent and fast locks, 4-10 birds.

here is the thread for the gps quick lock and if you did the official update from htc it should have upgraded your radio. if you do flash a custom rom as i would suggest you do make sure to unlock your phone with the vogue 2.31 unlocker.

I've been having the same problem it worked fine after 6.1 upgrade I did shadowtechs agps, then during a trip it just stopped working. When i got home a hard reset worked, then it stopped after a day. I can't even get a lock with the alltel navigator.

RBrandon do you know what radio version you have since the upgrade? Also what steps did you take after the ROM upgrade did you take to get the GPS to work?

I think I have to actually get GPS working before I can apply the fixes to make it faster. Right? The links you gave me apply to GPS that is already functioning.
