contacts and files

my contacts and files i save to my sd card all have an extra .mech on the end how do i correct this and restore my contacts and files? i used pim backup for the contacts and i just copied pics and files to the storage card

Dont know about the file extension but pim backup is easy fire it up and then hit restore. find the back up file and it restores your backup. you can select what to backup. careful cause it will duplicate your contacts each time you hit backup so do it once then check to see if your contacts are where you want em.

Sounds like your copies may be encrypted. See if you have encryption set by going here:

Start > Settings > System (tab) > Encryption

If you find the checkbox has a checkmark, I'd suggest UNchecking. If it's already unchecked, then maybe some other type of encryption is going on? I say this because MENC is the usual file type extension for encryptions done by Windows Mobile. Your MECH could be from something else.
