New to CDMA, need some help

I am new to CDMA. I have a lot of experience with my GSM Touch (Elf) but I think it is something different between falshing a GSM Touch and CDMA Touch.
Like if I flash my CDMA touch, will my phone number gone? How can I just flash a new ROM without lost my carrier and phone number? What should I do to start flash my CDMA touch? Is it after flashing a custom ROM I could release the internal GPS?
I am in New Zealand and service provider is Telecom. Please pointing me the way to go. Thanks

Re: New to CDMA, need some help

You can flash your CDMA phone as many times are you want and you will not lose any of your carrier or phone number associations.

The first step is to backup all your stuff, like email, photos, documents, contacts, calendar, etc, as all of this will be gone after flashing.

Then you need to unlock it, search for cokeman's unlocker on these forums, and read the instructions.

Then, you can choose any of the ROMs on this site, or any other site, such as OMJ's ROMS, Dette's ROMS, NFSROMs (on PPCHAVEN), etc... they will each have instructions as to what to do, and/or links.

If everything goes smoothly, it just comes down to downloading a file, hooking your phone up to your compuer via activesync, and running the file and voila!

It's all here on these forums, just look around, especially on some of the stickies.

GL!

Re: New to CDMA, need some help

Here is a good beginner's link:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17473

It's kinda old, but it's the same steps, just use the newer versions of cokeman's unlocker and any new-ish ROM you want!
